"then i jsut went back today and dbtt is almost gone, while over half of the xy display is still up"
This surely wasn't a serious post? Just for the record X&Y has become the second fastest selling UK album behind Be Here Now, overtaking Dido!

I suppose this thread will get moved, but anyway... how is that album selling in the UK? Only thing I heard was 100,000 in the first day (against 75,000 for DBTT if I remember correctly). I have a terrible memory for these things.

I think in the end its meant to be close to 450,000 for the first week, about 200,000 less than Be Here Now did in 1997. But obviously a hell of a lot more than DBTT.

FWIW, I thought X&Y was pretty good - a bit long, but still very good.

This is still an OASIS forum, isn't it??
Enough with Coldplay, people!!...If you hate them so much in the first place, why do you dedicate so much time and posts about them??...get over it for God's sake...

Shit so that's over 1.1 million in the first week just from the UK & US. This is gonna be one big muthafucka! I read people are predicting it'll end up selling about 15 million world wide. Considering A Rush of Blood to The Head has sold 10 to 12 million so far, I don't know if X&Y will beat that, its just selling them in a quicker time I think. Because I don't think any song they would release as a single from X&Y would convince new people who don't like them already. Its pretty much more of the same (and one or two disturbingly Embrace style songs like Swallowed In The Sea (seriously, its just like a song from the latest Embrace album but with a better singer!). I like Coldplay though, I don't think X&Y is as good as their first two albums.

yeah i heard it was gonna shift near 500,000 this first week which as you say is 200,000 short of Be Here Now although you also need to take it to account Be here now sold 700,000 in 3 days!!! not a week... cant see that sort of thing ever being repeated not these days

If you really want to be accurate, Be Here Now actually did 696,000 in that "3 day week" !
