We have a new Oasis album that MOST agree is better than anything since BHN or even BHN.
They are touring MUCH more in N. America than the tragically small (and even car accident cut) of HC.
The album went in #1 in UK w/ more sales than HC's #1.
It debuted at #12 in U.S. with almost double sales.
'Lyla' was #1 in UK giving them their 7th #1.
Coldplay STILL have not had a #1 and got beaten by a frog.
However, you come on here and it's like an aftermath of an Insurance Seminar (I sell Insurance by the way).
Got The Ovation Network Show tomorrow at 11pm.
Seeing them on Letterman on the 23rd and LIVE in Boston the 24th.
More singles to come.
Everybody cheer up. It could be Sept 2004 9 months from DBTT release!!!!

DBTT rules!!! Heathen Chemistry was a spark to this flame of an album.. I have bought the single, the album, the dvds, everything I can so far. I will buy all the remaining singles to come and I for one am loving this era of Oasis music!! Hopefully the MSG or Manchester gigs will make it to DVD like the familiar to millions did..?!! In 7 years time I can see myself posting on the 'sound and vision board' of this forum and begging people to upload DBTT-era gigs. Make no mistake 2005 is the New 1994 in my eyes! ;D Roll on Milton Keynes...

Good post. Just think of all the 90's bands once popular in the U.S. that are essentially dead and gone. Oasis is still alive and kicking, 10 years after WTSMG. They are bigger now than they were 7 years ago.

Seriously. I heard the lead singer of Collective Soul on Howard Stern this morning, it was pretty sad. They are practically selling their new album out of the back of a van. Can you imagine anyone sitting around saying, 'I can't wait until the new Collective Soul album comes out!'
Not many bands last or stay relevant for more than 10 years.

Coldplay STILL have not had a #1 and got beaten by a frog. Even though Coldplay's Speed of Sound didn't go to #1 in the UK, they were only the third UK band/group to have a single debut in the top ten in the U.S., the other two being the Beatles and the Spice Girls. How many times have Oasis had a #1 single in the US?

I'm not mentioning the band at all, it is other members on here that have a problem with Coldplay being bigger than Oasis at the moment. I love Coldplay and I also love Oasis. I'm simply defending Coldplay because I like their music. I don't understand why people are slagging them off, they're no different than Oasis, they're a group of musicians out there making music and selling records, what's so wrong with that? Would people rather see some manufactured crap out there instead of a band like Coldplay?

wonderwall didn't debut at #8 on the billboard charts but it did eventually get there... even thought the actualy band isn't really remembered by many here today wonderwall will still go down as one of the most popular songs ever here... it was one of the most popular songs of the 90s, is still played on radio today (yes in the u.s.), and most people still remember it.
how many coldplay songs will still be remembered and played in the u.s. 10 years from now?
also i don't know why everyone is expecting a #1 from coldplay next week... i heard something about people predicting x&y would sell 500,000 in its first week here
but this is only what people are predicting... when bhn came out many insideres were predicting 400,000 just in the u.s. in the first week... it went on to sell 152,000. this was a dissapointment but it got to #2 and #1 was puffy daddy's no way out and it only sold 153,000! so oasis was just 1,000 shy of getting #1.
at the time DYKWIM was #5 on billboard's modern rock charts... speed of sound is i think #6 right now. and i think there was about the same amount of promotion for both albums... if anythinkg DYKWIM got played more on mtv and vh1 than speed of sound is right now.
i personally believe they will get to #1 but only because they have no competion... all they have to beat out is the white stripes which i'm pretty sure they will. oasis on the other hand only missed #1 but 1,000 sales to one of the most popular albums in the u.s. of the decade (no way out sold over 11 million just in the u.s.)

Oasis have DBTT out at the moment, The White Stripes have an album out, not to mention other artists have albums out at the moment that are doing well, there's always competition.

How the Hell did Coldplay creep into yet another post about nothing to do with them? I don't "get" them as I have said in the relevant "rock n roll star" board but them and their boring "X & Y" seem to be DOMINATING every single thread. Is this REALLY an Oasis forum?? I have nowt against Chris Martin and wish him all the best. But I also with he wouldn't keep sticking his nose in official "oasis-business" using gullible members to spread his gospel! If you like Coldplay good but how does this make sense?: THREAD: Liam's Haircut Member1: "I like Liam's hair!" Member2: "Ohh you seen Chris Martins' new trim?"

This thread should be moved to "rock n roll star" as it now has NOTHING to do with DBTT! LOL
