the kids that buy music today are robots , whatever is promoted is sold (coldplay fifty jayz u2) back when i was a kid if a lp was good word of mouth in your high school
went around and the lp took off..back in 78 when van halen opened for sabbath , they blew them off the stage within a week word was everywhere about this youn guitarist who was like jimmy page, and the VH legend was born.. today if its not packaged , promoted, and played on mtv kids wont buy it...it sickens me to the point where i am done with music man

Yeah the corporate state of music is terrible, Even in the better albums you can tell they were made for an american audience(Cos there the biggest music buyers worldwide) Coldplays album is great but has been made with the US market as its main target. But don't lose hope with Oasis sales yet, this album has done alot more in most countries than what they've done in the past (German #2, Japan #1 US top 15 and #1 uk 1st week and apparently has sold a shedload more this week, amazon 3rd bestseller, HMV 2nd bestseller, play 2nd bestseller and son on) and all this has been done off the back of a "So called" poor 1st single (not my words), theres still gonna be at least 3 more singles and one of those could be the potentially massive "Let there be love", not forgetting the gigs which usually boost sales quite alot. Oasis (or many others) ain't gonna sell like they used to or Coldplay cos that doesn't happen very often, But there still doing very impressive numbers. but its not just the #'s (it is in a way) but its the fact that people like me get ragged on about them and most of the time i give them the one two and kick to the chest and they'll shut up but the rest of the time i'll fight verbally with certain people........like this one kid thats going to the boston show.....gives me shit about oasis and says weezer is a better band.....i ask him everytime if there such a better band why haven't they sold out to half of a million peole or how come they're not in the record books......and i'll go on until i ask him if weezer is so great how come your going to the concert in june.....i want to deck him so bad but i can't cause hes a teamate of mine and my coach wouldn't like it very much if i laid him out on the field......so if anyone whos going to the boston and wants to give him a hard time....reply back and let me know i'll point him out to you

lennon's or whoever's rule "you cant bullshit the kids" might not count anymore but i have at least hope that the whole pimp-music or music to promote your clothes-gear attitude will implode and vanish...doesnt look to realistic eh...
btw. coldplay dint produce an american album come on.... it's not that much to the point and rather complicated..although there are some nice tunes on it.

I though U2' last album was very average and sold due to the fact there U2 and that Bono is always at the whitehouse or on some fucking benefit show. i dont understand it either, i think it has to do with the fact that nobody knows about music anymore. musicians and musically informed people liek good bands, while musically ignorant people see a album called"bulletproff" that is loud and the lead singer (or talker, rap isnt really singing imo) is a hard ass, and they dont know what good "music is" so they fuckin follow the other bad music buyers...ask a rap fan to recognize acoustic guitar from electric, or explain WHY their music is so sweet, and they cant do it...its ll about following....and garbage like roling stone doesnt help either by praising rap and "emancipation of mimi" as greta music.....its all about the money, not hte music
