Newberry Comics is a music store in New England. It is like Sam Goody, Strawberry's, FYE, etc. It really has nothing to do with comic books at all.

Newberry Comics is a music store in New England. It is like Sam Goody, Strawberry's, FYE, etc. It really has nothing to do with comic books at all. Well...except for the fact that Newbury Comics sells comic books...then sure, they have nothing to do with comics at all. They just kept the name as it gained popularity as an "indie" music shop more than comics, but they used to certainly sell a lot more comics/mags/books than they do now. I like the fact that their prices are normally reasonable, and their "sale" prices are normally way below the sale prices at the leading chain stores. They also tend to carry more imports and such releases that the chain stores won't carry because they won't move many of them (all about the volume at places like Tower!). They've become pretty big here and have expanded a lot over the years, so it's really like a one-stop pop culture store now. The crowd in the stores that sell more CDs (Boston area locations) are typically a younger crowd and more from the college campuses, etc. (no shortage of those here). So we all know Coldplay and the Stripes will outsell Oasis by far this week, but it's nice to know that my fellow Bostonians still like a strong rock and roll record
