this is really a great song.
I put it up there with "Let's All Make Believe".
Would've been one of the best songs on the album IMO.
Who wrote it, it's gotta be Noel...?

No way man, Liam lyrics all the way...Noel could never pull off "to all my sisters, you're looking pretty fine"...well not as well as Liam...

good point, Noel seems to avoid talking about chicks in his songs...
But, there is no way Liam wrote the tune (chords and melody) which are far too clever for him.. there some really good chord changes..
that lyric about "I won't bite" fthough, that is very "Liam-ish"

They aren't all that hard...its all pretty basic...check the blue note for the tabs and you'll see...

I know they're not hard, I play guitar, I'm saying the chord changes come on unexpected bars and are more interesting..it's got a good mix of minor and major chords....plus a great chorus and backing vox
I think it's one of the better written songs they've had.

it's a coke song....not like they haven't alluded to that in other songs though. Will you pass me down the wine? It's getting near that time (early morning come down, drinks the last of the booze, prolly out of coke) What you got tomorrow? Only pain and sorrow (next day come down) Will you dance for me tonight I promise I won't bite Lets go see the sun burst Wait til I go numb first (wait till I'm numb from the coke) And in the morning come to us and if the evening showers us Sing to us (someone help to quit the drug) Will you break it down for me cos what will be will be I can hear the thunder (addiction) Gonna stop the hunger (gonna quit the drug) And in the morning come to us and if the evening showers us Sing to us (help quit the drug)

And the parts about sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers?

who knows, the last bit with brothers, sister, fathers blah, blah just sounds good, artistic license, not all songs are totally cohesive...
pretty sure it's a drug song though, just like Hung in A Bad Place was about Gem reminiscing over his drug days and how he feels better since being clean.
and Gas Panic was about Noel's coke habit and the panic attacks he had.

I'm pretty sure Gem said recently that Liam keeps coming up with unexpected chord sequences etc.

yes, it's a fucking great song and it should have been on the album...grows more and more...
I've yet to hear it when I've been drinking which makes Oasis songs even better ;D
Liam's songs get better and better....if this is his, then GGTIA, LLAB and this one are his best..

I always forget about Cast No Shadow it kind of gets "over-shadowed" on that album.. But it's really a soulful song..a song like that would have been a star on the last 3 or4 albums and it was kind of a filler track on MG shows you how good MG was

Till now, i think all the new Liam songs are great. They're all full of soul. I'm sure this is a Liam song. The new Noel songs, well in my opinion ... some of them are a bit uninspired, he wrote some great songs in the past, but I think Noel misses the ambition at the moment. Liam has just started his job as songwriter, needs some help here and there from the band, but he's full of inspiration and ambition. Think Liam needs a good change to have his songs on the next album, at least the half or even more. Maybe Noel and Liam need to write together, not apart.
In the past, Noel was the one who went psychodelic on his songs and lyrics, had a lotta soul in it, now it is Liam. Liam lyrics can be seen as "light and fresh and a bit of poppy in places", but also as lyrics with a "double meaning". Like the beatles had at the time with songs like Strawberry Fields Forever, and Lucy In The Sky. Liam is not as far and as good as The Beatles at the time where, but I believe he can develop himself as good as them, or at least very close to it.
The songs by Liam who are on the album, and Won't Let You Down, Pass Me Down The Wine, those songs prove he's having it, and promisses even better for the future.
GO LET THOSE SONGS OUT LIAM !!!

Here's the lyrics in full:
Will you pass me down the wine? It's getting near that time What you got tomorrow? Only pain and sorrow
Will you dance for me tonight? I promise I won't bite Lets go see the sun burst Wait 'till I go numb first
And in the morning come to us And if the evening showers us Sing to us
Will you break it down for me? 'Cos what will be will be I can hear the thunder Gonna stop the hunger
And in the morning come to us And if the evening showers us Sing to us
To all my sisters Yeah, you're lookin' pretty fine And to all my brothers I bet you're feelin' kind of high
And to all the mothers Well come on now, don't be shy And to all the fathers Who are sick and fucking tired
Top tune. Liam said it's gonna be a b-side on the next UK single, The Importance of Being Idle.
