I reckon Noel's songs (Lyla excepted) are pretty good lyrically, but other than that it's basically just write-by-numbers. Personally I reckon lyrics have become worse in music recently. I've heard shite lyrics from bands I expect better of, for example - "what if you should decide that you don't want me there by your side" - that's from fucking Coldplay, and I'd be one of the first people to hail Chris Martin as a genius.
Personally I blame the Kaiser Chiefs. They lowered the standard of what people call 'acceptable' music.

"And in the morning, sing to us, and in the evening comes to us, sing to us." what song is that from ? that's a cool line. It's from "Pass Me Down the Wine" (USA iTunes exclusive) Actually I misquoted the song. It goes,"And in the morning come to us, and if the evening showers us, sing to us."

Hate to throw a wrench in this festival of positivity.
Worst lyric: "They got so blind that they cannot see."
That's the worst since "Let me HEAR you smile."

Don't get offended, but I think both lines are great lines and people who don't like them are just not smart enough to understand them.
