Hey, what d'ya think about the lyrics of the songs on DBTT. Personally I ain't have one song which i think is far better then the rest. I think the lyrics on DBTT are kinda weak. Just remember songs like Shakermaker, Supersonic, Some Might Say, Hey Now, Champange Supernova, some songs on BHN and that "spiritual"stuff on SOTSOG ... even those of Born on a different cloud ... Those songs had something special, where strong. I hate to say that DBTT when we talk about lyrics, is kinda weak. I hope they will make more work of it the next album. If that album will be at least as good as DBTT musically speaking, and those lyrics will be a lot better ... well then we might can talk about a competitor for DM or MG ... On DBTT it's to much about the thinks everybody is singin'about ... love, hate, friendships ya know ... Let them fokin tell us about life, confusion, and honesty ... that's what is the strong thing about those old songs.
maybe A Bell Will Ring and Keep The dream alive is the strongest one on the album .. but i'm not sure. The best one-liner i think is .... well i'm still not sure ... anyone ?

I have to disagree with you mate. most of the songs have great lyrics to me. specially POTQ and TIOBI, those are my favourites.
I also love "who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens would cry over me?" from LTBL

The best line on that album for me is... "I lost my faith in the summertime, cause it don't stop raining"

I like "I carry a madness, everywhere I go" what a great line and liam sings it like a total bastard...lyrics as a whole are quite good i think on the album...what might help your problem with the lyrics is stopping the comparisons to the first 2 albums...they are a different band now

i'd have to disagree as well. the album has great lyrics i think. they seem like they mean more then previous albums. i'm not saying it's better then MG or DM. but i think the lyrics are better then the last two and BHN as well.
For my favorite one liner : "You found your god in a paperback" is a pretty cool one. but i like others as well.
my favorite song lyrics has got to be either LTBL or Idle.
- cheers !

they are singing about their life in these days, they are not the poor kids who wanna leave manchester, they are the rich rock star, who now hate london, and that suddendly have found love, in DM and MG, they didnt even mention the word love in any of their songs, and now is love one another, and let there be love, so i think the lyrics are allrgiht, i dont know why people keep going 10 yrs in the past and start to say if lyla is best than live forever or whatever, it dosent matter, enjoy the album, and rock on

The best line for me is the "stand tall, stand proud..." in Part of the Queue
TIOBI and LTBL have fantastic lyrics IMO, as do KTDA and A Bell Will Ring.

I love the lyrics, I could pick a great one-liner in every song.
"No one can break us / No one could take us / If we try "

in many ways i think that lyrically, this might be the band's strongest album. there's no song w/ lyrics as great as live forever, wonderwall, RNRS, etc. but as a whole album, it's pretty solid.
My favorite on the record is "I begged my doctor for one more line / He said son, words fail me." That's hilarious.
I also love "I got a piano / I can't find the C." They always express frustration very well.

But i think all the lines of TIOBI are very good, like a little story especially "I asked my doctor for one more line / He said son are you crazy". In all though this is probably there most meaningful album lyrically. Cheers doggboy

love many of them
i carry madness everywhere i go
i've got a piano, i can't find the 'c'
you found your god in a paperback you get your history from the union jack
so come along with me but don't ask why cos it's all mine!!
she believes in everything, and everyone and you and yours and mine
calling all the stars to fall and catch the silver sunlight in your hands
i sold my soul for the second time
but i don't mind as long as there's a bed beneath the stars that shine
i've lost my faith in the summer time cos it don't atop raining
let's go find a rainbow
i'd get round to loving you is that such a crime?
suddenly i found that i'd lost my way in thi city the streets and the thousands of colours all bleed into one
stand tall, stand proud
i'm having trouble just finding my soul in this town
the answers disappear when i open my eyes
where real life and dreams collide
you pulled me through my empty nights sleepless on your floor
who kicked a hole in the sky so the heavens would cry over me? who stole the soul from the sun in a world come undone at the seams?
i hope the water is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream suspended clear in the sky are the words that we sing in our dreams
may all your dreaming full the empty sky
but if it makes you happy, keep on clapping

The best line on that album for me is... "I lost my faith in the summertime, cause it don't stop raining" Beat me to the punch...I think the lyrics are amazing...albeit the terms "soul" and "stars" come up a lot...."lets go find a rainbow" is one of my top oasis lyrics, hands down

Loads of the songs on DM, MG & BHN were complete nonsense lyrically, carried by the incredible tunes, melodies and Liam's incredible delivery. While the first three have a few tracks that buck the trend, they are mostly nonsense (Noel even commented on that in the past, I remember he specifically mentioned Some Might Say). Lyrically I think as a whole this album is by far the best they've done, in fact the lyrics are probably the best thing about this album.

Some of my favourites are:
"You could be my railroad - we'd go on and on" from GGTIA
"I lost my faith in the summertime, 'cos it don't stop raining" - from TIOBI because it's quite fitting in Britain right now!
"Every beginning has broken its promise" - POTQ
"Four Seasons, seconds flicker and flash, I'm alone" - from KTDA, principally because of Liam's great delivery.
"When I'm gone yeah, you look like you'd miss me, so come along with me but don't ask why" - MF
Loads more as well that I can't think of right now.

Several:
"Give me a minute. A man's got a limit. Can't get a life if you're heart's not in it"
"I fall down, heaven won't help me, I call out no one will hear"
"I'm having trouble just finding my soul in this town"
"i'm no stranger to this place where real life and dreams collide and even though i fall from grace i will keep the dream alive"

"Got my drip-drab velcro moustache, keeps 'em all at bay, you'll get yours someday." "And if you don't let go, it's gonna pass you byyyyyye." "And in the morning, sing to us, and in the evening comes to us, sing to us." "You found your god in a paperback" Very, very solid lyircs on DBTT.
