Does anyone know how many copies of DBTT were sold yesterday for the US debut. I couldn't find anything I might have to wait till the weekend to get the numbers when they're posted.

It sold 130,000 in the uk by tuesday and its on course to do 300,000 by the end of the week. Apparently it outsold the rest of the top20 combined Not sure about the US, Don't think we'll know until next week. Cheers doggboy

Predicted to do between 75k-100k first week in U.S.
You can check dailyhitsdouble.com next Monday for results.
I did my part by getting DVD/CD combo and regular cd for friend at Best Buy. I will be buying maybe one more for my sister as b-day gift although B-day is in October, but why not boost sales for this week.
My friends that 'sort of' like Oasis and rock music in General always say if it's so good then I'll give you a blank disc so u can copy it for me.
Can't fight 'em cuz I do the same with other bands I like but don't love from their collection.
My copied discs are slowly catching up to my regular collection (after 15 years of buying) b/c it's so cheap and quick.

Are those American numbers? Because I'm sure I remember in the UK BHN did about a million in the first week.

In the US, BHN sold 152, 000 copies in the first week...reached no.2 behind Puff daddy...that's a good picture, huh?

be here now did 735K the first week...missed the number one spot to puff daddy and the families "no way out" (which, btw, was jammed with hip hop hits... for whatever its worth) by less than 2000 copies. it did significantly worse than expected, many industry suits had it going platinum in the first week. these are facts.

300,000 1st week sales for the uk is pretty darn good, Knowones doing the numbers they used to (Coldplay are getting bigger granted.) The biggest selling uk albums of last year were 1.1 million (Scissor sisters god damn it). But its about longevity thats why alot of bands don't go for the killer single 1st time around (Coldplay, Oasis etc...) they just get a buzz going knowing whatever they put out 1st will do well and then keep the sales going with the singles. Oasis are still one of the biggest selling bands in the world, fact. Heathen chemistry did 5 Million worldwide! thats an incredible amount (Compare that to Stereophonics who have only had 6 million worldwide sales for all there records combined, which is still good mind you) Oasis ain't gonna do the numbers they used to in the US either (Yes they did break america wtsmg 4.5 mill and BHN 1.8 mill says so), but at the same time neither does REM, Limp Bizkit (no i don't like em) who's latest album sold 47,000 ;D And i read an article about Alanis morrisette who's 1st album sold 22 million but her latest effort only managed to break a million worldwide! So yeah id like to see oasis sell like they used to but that ain't gonna happen in this day and age i dare say, its about quality of music now and if success comes with that then im even more happy ;D Cheers doggboy

Oh yeah also back on the sales tip Audioslave made the US #1 with 267,000 coies of there album sold, Just somert to gauge how thing are nowadays, 267,000 sold for a band with such reputation and cult status in a country the size of the us is pretty paltry in my book.
Cheers

You can't sustain that kind of success sales wise over such a long period. Especially these days with illegal downloads etc. Even the biggest bands today are selling nowhere near as much as people like Oasis, The Spice Girls and Alanis Morisette were in the mid-90s.

Don't expect the album to boom on it's first week/month's sales. Remember Oasis have been pretty much a shadow in the U.S. since Be Here Now. So the big key to high sales is continuing this new wave of Oasis promotion, as well as the affects of all the concerts (including the mega madison square garden gig) has on sales. I would see them more slowly slimbing to #1. Starting smaller, gaining to bigger sales.

I think Morning Glory didn't enter too high in the US, but eventually climbed up over time to peak at #4 didn't it? And rack up 4 million + sales in the process. I think that is the most likely way DBTT will be a chart success rather than strong early sales. After the MSG gig and of course if they release some good radio singles, LTBL for example has a commercial sound I think.

Morning Glory peaked at #3, and again BHN sold 125,000 copies in the first week, NOT 735,000...

are you sure it was 125,000? Because don't forget it sold like 1.8 million overall in the US (I think I read that anyway).
