Just felt I should copy what most ppl have been doing and give my ratings
Turn Up The Sun- 8/10, very solid opener--better than Hindu Times and the like
Mucky Fingers- 8/10, after a couple listens im diggin it, nice song once you get use to it
Lyla-9/10, love this song, took a few listens though
Love Like A Bomb- 9/10, love this the first time i heard it, quality
The Importance of Being Idle- 10/10, AMAZING
Meaning of Soul- 7/10, not as bad as people think, one of the weaker songs though
Guess God Thinks I'm Abel- 7/10, think its over-rated, for me the "Rainbow" part really ruins it
Part of The Queue- 7/10, hard one to rate, it's not bad but not amazing--average
Keep The Dream Alive- 10/10, typical Oasis, as close to Live Forever as they will ever come, only potential anthem, very good, Liams sneer works wonders on this track
A Bell Will Ring- 8/10, under-rated and not really talked about, not bad-slightly above average
Let There Be Love- 9/10, most over-rated song but when Noel comes in it saves it, too repetitive though and too many outros!! not bad though, just no Supernova
Final Judgement: 8.5/10
not better than their first 2 but ALOT better then the last 3. Good job lads.
AVE IT

Hrrrmmm... well I just listened to it and it's good... but not great. Better than HC but probably on par with SOTSOG. There are no heavy songs that really stick out like a Gas Panic, but at the same time there are no bad songs. Too much use of the word 'love' though. bleh!! Could have used a couple of edgier, moody songs but oh well if i want those i'll go back to my Verve cds. I really don't rate Mucky Fingers too high - seems like a mess and whoever said it should never have left the studio is probably right. Idle is ok at most, but sounds kind of quirky. I really did like part of the queue and keep the dream alive - probably my faves at the moment. and Let there be Love is good as well - reminds me too much of 'free as a bird'. Just waiting for macca to chime in with some lyrics

Sotsog better then Heathen Chemistry??? Hmmm maybe Sotsog has GLIO, WFL and Gas Panic, but still it isn's so good as HC. HC was a nice album, the beginning of better times.
This album is even better then Definitely Maybe and it will be hard to top.

I have this theory that they've been saving all their "great" stuff for their post Sony era. We'll see, but DBTT is just as solid as DM, no doubt.

It's weird, the album sounded average when I listened to it the first few times, then it sounded fantastic for a week or so (this is all before it was in the shops).
Now, after buying it... I'm not so sure.
I think there are some good tunes on there but I'm also a little bit underwhelmed by some of it.
For Be Here Now, Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants and Heathen Chemistry I have swapped songs round, taken some off and replaced them with what I consider to be B-sides that are better than the album tracks.
I think I'll probably do the same with this one. That song Pass Down The Wine or whatever it's called sounds great (although I've only heard 30 seconds of it so far) so I'll probably add that, and Stop The Clocks is bound to be a B-side at some point so I'll probably stick that on there too and take off some of the ones I don't like so much.
At the moment (and this could change) these are my ratings for the album.
Turn Up The Sun - like the start and end but find the middle a bit plodding and the chorus pretty naff> 6.
Mucky Fingers - Really like this one, although Noel seems to run out of stuff to say on it, hence the "It's all mine..." bit> 7.5
Lyla - Was bit disappointed when first heard it but it's really grown on me and is a stand-out of the album. The best vocal performance on the album> 8
Love Like A Bomb - A good tune ruined by Liam trying to sound too much like John Lennon. A missed opportunity> 6.5
The Importance of Being Idle - I know a lot of people have raved about this one but I find it a bit too whimsical and don't really like Noel's falsetto> 6
The Meaning of Soul - Sometimes I'm in the mood for this one and then sometimes I'm not. It's different from anything else on the album which I guess is a good thing> 6
Guess God Thinks I'm Abel - The one I've listened to most. Lovely lyrics and a good performance from Liam. A great, catchy tune> 8
Part of the Queue - A rip-off of Golden Brown but I like the sentiment and the "Stand tall, stand proud" bit> 7.5
Keep The Dream Alive - Almost a very good song but sounds a bit forced. Liam's voice doesn't sound great to me, would have been a lot better singing this say five years ago. Best bit is the beginning> 7
A Bell Will Ring - Same again really. Good tune but doesn't really seem to go anywhere. Nice guitar and it builds nicely but never reaches a crescendo. Bit too reminiscent of Probaby All In The Mind off Heathen Chemistry in trying to do a Reveolver> 7
Let There Be Love - Great verses, great vocals from Liam and I love the way Noel comes in halfway through. Just a shame about the weak chorus which sounds like another Lennon steal> 7
Just my two cents and I wouldn't be at all surprised if my opinions change over the next few days/weeks/months/years ;D

ALL the songs have grown on me EXCEPT for Guess God Thinks I'm Abel--i love how it sounds, but that "Rainbow part" really annoys me. If it has a hidden meaning someone please tell me, if it means nothing then well, i find it pointless.
I love this album. I dont know how people cant like Mucky Fingers, thats one of my favourites.
Oasis deserve so much credit for this. This better get into the top 10 in the U.S and the top 2 in the U.K--ATLEAST.
I cant stop listening to this album.....
i wish people would stop comparaing it to MG and the like bc its a different Oasis. They tried recreating MG and failed, this is the first album they have moved on with, and they have done a remarkable job in my eyes. I disagree with the review above this post, but to each his own right?.

If it has a hidden meaning someone please tell me, if it means nothing then well, i find it pointless. When I was kid I got excited whenever there was a rainbow. Maybe it was just me, I don't know. I think that's just what this line means - he's saying (to cain - lol) let's enjoy our lives (like you do when you're a kid), not fucking waste it with unimportant things. Cause now that I'm older when I see a rainbow I don't give a fuck, and people associate the word with something homosexual.

My take is that it's happiness that you cannot reach (rainbows are intangable). Also it comes after the rain which is supposed to symbolise the bad part of the relationship. But, to backtrack and avoid sounding like a nob'ed student, they're just lyrics man, they mean squat.
