The Streets have been announced as Oasis' 'special guests' at V Festival. They're basically co-headliners but it seems the Gallaghers aren't overly keen on sharing the honour... Mike Skinner and co will perform just before Oasis on Saturday, 20 August, at the Chelmsford event and on Sunday, 21 August, at the Staffordshire festival. Other acts on the bill include the two other headliners, Franz Ferdinand and Scissor Sisters, plus Athlete, Doves, Kaiser Chiefs, Goldie Lookin' Chain, The Zutons, and many more. V Festival boss Bob Angus said: "With two amazing albums, we're thrilled to add such an acclaimed act as The Streets on to our 10th anniversary bill. They're a great live act, with an impressive following and no doubt will provide a brilliant performance on the main stage.” The Streets will also play a warm up gig at London's Brixton Academy on Friday, 19 August. Tickets cost £25 and are available from www.gigsandtours.com or by calling 0870 771 2000. V Festival 2005 takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, and Weston Park, Staffordshire, on 20-21 August. Click on the venues for info and lineups on the two events.
