He did mature, but he also fucked up his voice from the method in which he sings. The early definitely maybe demos were his kid voice. Now is his adult voice, but he also fucked it up a bit too.

Liam's voice has definitely changed. I think sometimes the more raspy Liam vocal works well (tunes like Eyeball Tickler or the rockers) but on others yeah, it sometimes sounds a bit wrong, or too rough. I was watching my Live By The Sea DVD earlier tonight and I have to admit I was struck by how much better his voice was back then. Not a strained vocal chord or a note out of place. I know that was 10 years ago, but still, I miss it. me to actualy & i thought the same thing! it sounded like he was 12 or something but far more... i dunno..angelic?

I at least wish it was good enough so they could play Some Might Say again... apparently he cant do it anymore I heard Noel say in an interview somewhere.
If he quit smoking his voice might improve. I know Mark Knopfler used to smoke until the mid to late nineties, different voice and style I know... BUT his voice did get very raspy, since he's given it away its almost back to how it was, even though he's over 50 these days.

When a singer has to sing a lot in a row i.e. touring a lot their voice can get better or get worse. When I listen to the boots I think his voice is improving!
Anyway his voice is still ok to me.

the "its only age" argument is pretty weak when you look at people like Bono or McCartney belting it out pretty ridiculously still... I mean early 30s isn't very old
when you listen to one of the most recent albums and then put in DM there's no vocal comparison, DM vox were fucking amazing

I think all of these arguments have a bit of truth. Smoking and drinking is not good for the voice, that's obvious. Gettin'older .. hmmz it might effect your voice a bit, but i don't think it will change as much as liams voice did by gettin older. Touring is very hard for his voice, and for sure when he uses his "sneary rough voice". Cos that way of singing effects your voice a lot, cos it's not natural for liams voice. Look at Rod Steward ... in the early days he had that fantastic sneary voice. But true the years his voice was gettin' worser, and nowadays his voice doesn't come close to what it was. I think it's the same for liam ... aldo i think it's still not to late for liam. When you listen to DBTT there are songs like Turn Up The Sun and Love Like A Bomb, you can hear Liam singin' with a low voice ... which gives that sneary thing. But listen to GGTIA or LTBL ... he sings higher on those songs, and his voice a far more "clean and clear" and tose songs. Then listen to DM ... Almost every song on that album Liam sings very high. The go and have a listen to HC, almost every song on that on is sung very low (only acception is SCYHO). Do you hear the difference in notes ? I do. Personally I love liams higher voice. So after all i don't think liams voice is that much focked up. It just a matter of smokin'and drinkin some less, a good singteachter who supports/keeps an eye(ear) on liams voice while they are touring, and writing songs which needs higher notes for the singing part. cheers lads ! (i'd like to teach the world to sing )

And the problem with Lyla live is not the voice, but Liam runs out of breath more easily... that's cause of all the ears of smoking.

It is definately a matter of opinion if you listen to the clapham gig, you can hear that liam's singing style has changed. When he sings the old songs, they're not as good as they used to be, but when he sings the newer songs like a bell will ring and songbird... it's fuckin amazing and spot on it's a shame that hes lost his ability to sing cigs and alcohol and rnrstar and all that, but he makes it up for his vox on the new songs
