Apparently that's correct ...so if they don't sell more with DBTT I'm gonna have to make some calls... .....I don't know who would I call though

That can only be bad motherfucking marketing. Holy fuck! 144,000! That is fucking sickening.

Yeah probably is bad marketing....although a few years ago Norah Jones sold millions of albums with no promotion at all....and then she won a bunch of grammys and sold even more.....although Norah Jones's fans probably don't download music ilegally ;D.....you know.....because they are ooold and they don't know about the internet ;D......no, I'm kidding...I actually like Norah Jones..she's cute and all ....although sometimes her music's a bit dull and down right boring....better than Britney though

Noel got his own label but it's still under Sony right? Can't the label do the marketing. I don't think Sony is doing all that they can to promote oasis. You won't get shit numbers like 144,000 with good promotion.

144,000 copies in the US? Fuck that is bad with 250m people approx, thats only one in every 1736 Americans have that album in ireland that equivalent would have been 2,016 sales pretty irrelevant and pointless "point" i made there, but christ, 2000 sales in ireland, that would have been shocking!

DBTT opening week= top10 album Based on the somewhat decent promotion that DBTT has been getting in the US I am going to make a bold prediction that it will out sell the whole of HC's sales in just 8-10 weeks time and hit about 65,000-80,000 on opening week . I am basing this off the release of LTBL which is going to be mega hear in the States. All that people remember of Oasis 'round hear is Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova, Live Forever; and LTBL is along the same lines so I expect big things .

the 144,000 number is especially depressing when you consider that WTSMG sold 4 million.
There last top 40 radio hit was don't go away, they are gonna need another top 40 hit if they hope to sell a million, or even 500,000.(when I say top 40, i mean I don't mean on alternative radio, i mean overall.)

I'm going out on a limb here but I think they could break the top ten here in the US. Looked at the new releases coming out and don't see anything really that could outsell them it just a question of how many people are going to get it in the first week since new releases usually get their highest chart placing in their first week. A store called Best Buy here in the US will probably sell the album for 10 bucks. The biggest bargain for the best release of the year! I know I'll do my part . I plan to by the DualDisc version and regular version of the album. So will just have to wait and see .

I am thinking maybe top 20. You have to realize that above and beyond actual Oasis fans, and newbies just turning on to them...there are a lot of fans into different genres of rock music here and that dilutes the market. I suggest everyone buy 2 just in case. On the other hand, I don't think Oasis are going to be in the poor house anytime soon if they don't break into the top 20 here. Don't forget...they will get tons of press during their tour. (Let's hope it's good press)

The americans are too fuckin´ comercial man ! In US, DBTT will rank 30...but Jennifer Lopez or a black rap man number 1 of course !! fuck !! Speed Of Sound is better than The Importance Of Being Idle, or Let There Be Love C´mon americans !!

Does anyone know how many albums you gotta sell to get in the top ten in the US?? it depends of the releases that week. but here are sales for some postions #10 (65k) #15 (51k) #20 (45k) #25 (40k) Sotsog did 58k first week but at the time of it's release sales were high. if it was released last week it would have nearly made the top10!.(#12) to be exact. what ashame i predict DBTT to do around 48k 1st week and reach #19 in the charts.but if they promote it more with other singles etc. i can see it having a good chart run.

144,000 <-- that more or less means there are only 144 000 oasis fans in america in 2002, because anyone remotely interested in oasis bought that album cos it was ocnsidered a return to form and all that.
-.- tis depressing. those poor unenlightened heathens =P

i was hanging out with a friend and mentioned the new record and she sorta gave a shrug even though she's a fan -- she said heathen chemistry sucked.

Speed Of Sound is better than The Importance Of Being Idle, or Let There Be Love C´mon americans !! Well, why do you want them on the same chart as Jennifer Lopez? We DO have rock and alternative music you know. I don't care if they don't stack up to crappy pop stars...that's the problem. Oasis are stuck in a ditch between being pop and alternative rock. You won't see a lot of GOOD rock bands being compared to Mariah Carey either..and that's a good thing IMO. I don't want Oasis to be considered fluff. Coldplay is consistently on those charts because their music is 'easy listening'. Let Oasis keep their edge.
