It has to be one of the weirdest reviews I've read. Firstly they put the marks for the previous albums up - none of which they gave at the time - then the reviewer doesn't seem able to find any reason to slag the songs off. He says Let There Be Love is lazy just cos it's an old demo, and Keep The Dream Alive sounds like "please Jim could you fix it for me to have a song sung by Liam Gallagher". WTF??? Do you like it or not? The only reason they seem to give is that it doesn't sound like Oasis did 10 years ago

I'll never buy an NME again, those fuckers sold magazine's because they had bands like Oasis with interesting interviews etc. As reward they are being slagged off like they are some ordinary cafeband. No respect; it is all part of press and I even thought NME had some grace.
Oasisfans should boycot this cheap popmagazine.
But, they are just one of the few bad reviews, so f#ck em. I'll judge the album myself, next monday.

Disgusting. My letter:
To: letters@nme.com Subject: Don't Believe Your Spineless Review
Way to promote the hell out of Don't Believe the Truth on your site for the past several weeks, then slag it off in a review in such a spineless way. Did you even listen to it? How in the HELL can you put it on the same plane with Standing on the Shoulders?? You must be out of your fucking MINDS!
I see how it is though: it's not Coldplay or Babyshambles so to hell with it for now. It helps you remain pretentious twats when you give a poorly-written, mediocre review to an album that's undoubtedly going to be massively popular, and has received rather good reviews in rival publications. Rolling Stone in the states does the same thing. Until this morning I thought your mag had a better perspective -- which is why, even though I live in the states and it costs me an arm in a leg, I buy the NME imported every week at a bookstore almost 10 miles from my house -- but NO LONGER. You've shown your true colors with your latest Oasis review.
Furthermore, the ratings you gave today don't match up with your initial ratings of the previous albums. I guess I should take some consolation in the fact that you're admitting you were DEAD WRONG on those, and I should just take that to mean you must acknowledge that you are likely DEAD WRONG today.
Fortunately (and your online features and interviews over the past several weeks have clearly indicated this), you need Oasis a hell of a lot more than they need you.
Warmest regards
Pat W*** Cleveland, OH, USA

Did the NME really give Morning Glory a 6?? Wow, that is hard to believe. Talk about a miss! Does anyone here actually pay attention to music reviews anyway, seriously? I sometimes pay attention to movie reviews, I look at a few to get a general impression, but with music I don't think a review has ever swayed me either way. I hear the song on the radio or it's recommended to me, I check out the album, and if I like it I buy it.
Another thing with the NME is that it is frequently difficult to tell if they even liked it, or what they didn't like about it. They are so busy playing spot-the-influence and trying to write clever prose that I can't even tell whether they think I should buy it or not!

with all due respect nme were always goinng to give it a shite mark because everyone else is rating it so they had to be controversial! i mean just look at the letters page for the last month-full of oasis for & against. they know by flying in the face of public opinion they create a stir which inturn draws people to argue 1 way or another, therfore increasing circulation! whether they acttualy liked the album or not is irrelivent, its why the mag exists! (ie to praise obscure indie bands who more often than not will amount to fuck all whilst trying to bring the established order down from the pedistol they put them on in the 1st place!)

Did the NME really give Morning Glory a 6?? They certainly did. And then they gave Be Here Now 8/10. This is the same magazine which called Timberlake the 'coolest man on the planet' a couple of years ago remember. Who cares what they think?

A 6? How pathetic! Next they be bigging up Crazy Frog as the next coolest man after JT or whatever. NME have hidden agenda's and like many have pointed out in next years summary of 2005 the score will be upped to an 8 minimum. God how two-faced though... Massive respect to Pat Wank for that letter. Way to "stick it to the man"!! Good karma on it's way to you now. I will continue NOT reading NME for the forseeable future, until they love Oasis next issue.. !
