I just heard the first 4 songs live on Radio One, via the website: www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/stevelamacq/gallery/oasis/3.shtml I didn't listen to new songs, except for A Bell Will Ring, which I knew a long time. When I heard Bring It On Down I knew it; Zak Starkey is perfectly fit for Oasis; more than Tony and Whitey. Alan White was a great drummer, but not in the style of Oasis, though there are songs that fit him well, like "Cast No Shadow" etc. Looks like Zak has soul in his playing, power that many drummers recognize in a great drummer. It is not important how good you are (pointing to Alan White), but if your style suits with the sound the band is searching for. Just like Ringo was suited for the Beatles. He played very basic, wasn't technically speaking the best drummer on the globe, but contributed with his style to the sound of the Beatles. Ringo Starr belonged to the Beatles the way that the Beatles belonged to him. Starkey is a lucky man, playing with both The Who and Oasis. Within the Who he fills the hole that was left after Keith Moon. And now he is 'fixing a hole' in Oasis.....the rain didn't come in, the sun shines. Turn up the sun...... Summer of 2005

i still think whitey was far better than starkey. i loved his smooth drumming specially in WTSMG and playing live he never lost the beat. anyway i think starkey is a great drummer and i like his job in the album but im a little dissapointed with his live skills. he's pure rock'n'roll and that's great for oasis but well, maybe im a melancholic.

Totally agree. Zak is a superb drummer, there is no doubt about that, but for me, he is an out-and-out rock drummer. Alan is much more funkier and looser.
