hey, I am from DC but anway... NYC has a much lower crime rate than before and actually LOWER rates than many US cities currently. . they cleaned it up, set up great incentive programs for the police, etc. commercial areas safe , you shld be alert in ANY US city though and aware of surroundings. A great rule of thumb to any traveler ANYWHERE is travel lite, take layers of clothes (summer clothes, but other stuff for AC inside places, ). it shld be hot there though and humid) also try to BLEND IN/no need to draw attn. 2 urself. this is for anywhere. (i.e. LOL ! don't be a blatant tourist i.e. gawking at others, holding up lines with as you take pics w. cameras, huge purses and all, stay out of the way, ppl in a hurry, don't advertise.) (eh if you're from europe etc. we'll know anyway by yer shoes ! LOL !) Remember you can always shop there too (even on a budget.) if you need to pick up this that and the other. Laundry services are also an option. The ppl at hotels will be most helpful in many cases and you will be suprised at how friendly ppl can be. (within reason.) safe trip. ask others in this forum i..e webby

in my opinion , as a chick, where I am heading via taxi, etc. is b/t me and the taxi driver, not someone on the street asking "where ya goin ' ?" that's just me. I don't need to be targeted. I don't mean to scare ya. you'll have a great time !

(eh if you're from europe etc. we'll know anyway by yer shoes ! LOL !) what do you mean? europeans shoes are MUCH better than the ave. american. and their clothes for that matter. and just diff. I think europeans accessorize better generally, i.e. shoes, sunglasses and cell phones. etc. LOL ! even hair cuts. Just my opinion.

for airports, the less bags to fumble with the better in the "new normal" here . I take ONE carry on. security is thorough. I gotta take my shoes off and all in DC going thru ck points. just my opinion. again ask around and ask others.

the less metal the better ! LOL ! for obvious reasons - beep beep beep ! ' ck online for NO NO's and Do's and Dont's when you go thru airports in USA. nothing flammable, etc.

new york summers are hot, humid and muggy. bring shorts, some tees, a sweatshirt or a windbreaker for the nighttime (or just a button down shirt to wear over your tee)

Yeah new york is hot as hell in the winter. Bring a hoodie or something just INCASE it gets cold. And it might rain too, so prepare for that. New York is such a wonderful place. I love it.

That's why I needed some store name or just to know if all the big stores in the US sell both versions in a good price. Thanks for the help though.
