Yes, that's a pity. You know, when i asked about Lyla single in the local shop, the sellers (guys about 20 years old) told me that they don't know such group and looked at me like at the idiot...

If you live in the US then it is a shame they aren't promoting it, but in the UK is doesn't need it. HMV and Virgin tend to plug new acts in order to get them established and so they can squeeze more money out of more bands.

JMO The listening parties are good though

My local FYE have some of Oasis' back catalogue in stock. If some twat said "we don't know of such a band" i'd have..............
Turned around.........
grabbed all the oasis material they had in stock.....
walked back up to the wee twat..........
slammed them down............
"what you meant to say..... is YOU know of no such band you little twat, now get on the fye network, type in a search and tell me what you got!"
"Oh sorry sir"
"Sorry? It's me that's sorry, sorry for you that you're too busy wanking over simple plan and good charlotte to know of a 40 million seller"

for a band not in the mainstream in the US(its true dont deny it guys) i have seen plenty of promotion especially in magazines and yes even in sam goody(wow was what i thought too). but the fact of the matter is sony puts no money into advertising them in the US, only your random store where the manager knows of the band might put up some notice. I used to work at a record store, and the one i worked at they ordered their own posters for advertisement, its not like some big boss was breathing down our neck or forcing us to advertise hip hop or whatever, i was up to the discretion of the franchise owner who usually listened to the manager who knew what sold. Not to say that oasis sells a bunch recently in the US, but they sell more then your two bit one hit wonder. I bet noel doesnt go home and cry about this state of affairs either where sony doesnt support them much in the US, but I bet the band aint exactly pleased at their lack of promotion in the US for a band thats so big in the UK and that sells out tour dates.

I'm not really surprised, I went to HMV the other day and it didn't list Oasis as new release for May 31st.

I think as someone on here has said before, Sony sort of gave up on them after they walked off the Morning Glory tour.
They are a band who refuse to conform like all the other puppets in today's music industry so Sony thinks f*ck 'em.
Sony are wankers but that's the way of the world.
Record companies just want puppets who sell shedloads to little kids and don't give them any grief.

But I think what they did in late 96 when they just walked off the tour was pretty stupid. I mean Morning Glory was doing very well, they let a lot of fans down.

I don't think walking out on a tour is the main reason for this.
