Just bought "Lyla", and how refreshing is it to see a single where all the tracks including b-sides are all sung by Liam?
Just one thought, anyone agree that "Won't Let You Down" might be better without that effect on Liam's voice?

I agree about Liam singing all the songs for once but not sure that is an effect I think its the way hes singing it, bit like how he sang songbird. Good song though sounds like 'You've got to Hide your love away'.

But that's when I keep in mind they went for the Lennon sound.

Good song though sounds like 'You've got to Hide your love away'. I agree, Liam should sing more of the B-sides. I get the impression that over the last few years (since BHN really) he has done less since he knows they will only B-sides and he can't be arsed, whereas in the old days he sang a much bigger perecentage of them. There is definitely an effect or at the very least a pushing of the rawness in the mix of WLYD, I think it is dodgy from a production standpoint. Whether they were trying to do a "Lennon" or not, it's just distracting from the song after awhile. I think they made the same mistake on the album as well with LLAB.

I'm racking my brains here, and I think it's the first time since Cigarettes & Alcohol that Liam has sung all the songs, on UK singles anyway

i think what they did with wont let you down is that they literally sped the whole song up by like 2 percent. i actually think they might have used this technique before... more successfully...
but, yeah, if you slow down the playback just a bit it sounds more like regular old liam just struggling with the vocals a bit. crazy cats

Well I miss the cool Noel-sung B-sides so hope they appear on next single(S).. Not that I am in anyway unhappy with the Lyla single, quality product!!
Won't let you down is more the Noel-end of the band if you get my drift? LOL ;D

I'm happy as hell Liam is singing on the b sides again plus theyre a return to the good old days when the b sides were classics.
I'm not a huge fan of Noel singing, some songs for sure but the last album or two theres been a lot of the usual type of slow Noel acoustic songs many of which were pretty poor.
Happy as hell to hear Liam singing back on em

I don't like WLYD. Too muh like The Beatles without any Oasis soul imo. Eyeball Tickler puts it to shame.
Each to their own though I suppose.

To which songs are you referring to exactly? I thought YGTHOAS was pure class and Idler's Dream was MEGA

I think an old mic from the Beatles area and some reverb (which every singer uses) gives Liam's voice that Lennon-esque quality on "Won't Let You Down."
