people keep saying how great liam's voice sounds on the milan boot...come on people lets view this objectively, he sounds awful. considering its only the 2nd gig of the tour its terrible. sounds like it usually does by gig number 70 of the tour. lyla is just dreadful, as for scyho, compare it the first gigs of heathen chemistry tour (particulalry belfast odyssey) and you'll agree it sounds crap. as for noel, he sounds better recently but he cant reach all the notes on 'idle'...oasis gigs are awesome however liam sounds but lets not get carried away here....they need to improve for the big gigs this summer, liam tries to hard at the mic and ends up shouting rather than singing.....just my opinion

I partially agree with you. His voice certainly isn't what it used to be, but I would say that its got better since the HC sessions and tour, where it sounded as if he straining on helium. I thought Lyla was awful at Milan, but the rest certainly wasn't bad. Don't get me wrong it wasn't great, but it was nowhere as near as bad as Glasto. I'm more optimistic. He's changed his stance slightly and is reaping the benifits I think.

Its a valid point, if a subjective one. Whats the point in liking people if its unconditional. Thats not what music is about. If you like is voice then cool, but don't slag people off who are making valid points.

liam tries to hard at the mic and ends up shouting rather than singing.....just my opinion I think that this is very much a part of it. I personally think his voice sounds alright on the Milan gig, but he very often ends up shouting instead of singing, and it puts too much strain on his vocal chords. I have no idea why this is, but he's just singing on the Tsunami Benefit thing and sounds great.

He indeed sounded great on radio aid and I think you can't judge his voice on a poor quality bootleg like the Milan one (no disrespect to the people who made it, there the bollocks)! I think you can judge him on his performance on the JR show, Lyla wasn't that good, My Generation rocked!

How can we be objective? We're all Oasis fans. It's gonna be subjective & biased whichever way u look at it , either on the negative or positive side!! The only way to really judge the quality of Liam's voice is to get someone outside this forum that really doesn't care either way about the band & who has a professional knowledge of the voice. I have a vocal teacher that works with me. She's into classical , Rock and jazz , just an overall music fan - doesn't like Rap though (which is good) & her opinion is that Liam's vocal technique is all throat (that's one reason he loses his voice) & that eventually if he keeps going that way he'll lose his singing voice alltogether. She said that the 'sound' & 'timbre' of his voice was very rough and not 'agreeable' to the ear - a bit to whiny & raspy but that it probably suited the 'style' of the band & it's music. I think we can agree that Liam is not the best singer in the world and that his voice has deteriorated with age (who's doesn't??) but that's not really the point. What's important is that his voice suit the style and music of the band - which it does.
