I just got a chance to hear the Lyla performance on ross, and I hate to say it, but the man sounds something like that childish video someone from this forum put up a few weeks ago...I'm sure some of you remember it, good chords and everything, and it was funny, but the vocals just weren't there.
Like Liam on the show...
My generation was definetely good (apart from the Glasto 2004-reminiscient voice crack) but Lyla left a lot to be desired. I kept thinking someone who didn't know who they were would just look and say "Oh it's another one of those 'studio bands'. They suck live." It's depressing but I have high hopes for the future since there may be other factors at work. Keeping the fingers crossed.

The voice cracking is part of the song , its in the original and Liam has done it everytime he's sung this song. His voice will be fine, he was off key at the start but then got it together, bands on JR often seem to sound flat and off key - U2, Doves and Ian Brown etc

...yeah...I just listened to it and it wasn't the best vocals i've heard to be sure. He gasps for air at strange moments...to many cigis me thinks. Like you said, the rest of the band was great but Liams vox of Lyla even started off with the wrong key or something...
