I have noticed a sad thing in this forum. Why is it that I keep coming across people requesting leaked tracks from the new album?
It's people like this that encourage others to do the leaking in the first place, causing no end of shit for the lads such as poor sales resulting in bad chart positioning.
For fuck sake, be patient, wait for the big day and go buy a copy of the album, I know that's what I'll be doing, what true OASIS fan wouldn't?

you are partly right.
i have all the leaked tracks, simply because they are available. i prefered it if they wouldnt have leaked, but now it has, i try to get the songs asap. I understand your theory, but for me, music is music, and i dont reraly care from where i listen to it. and at what date.

The point is they should not be available anyway, why should any songwriter have there work released before it is due to be released, all that hard work from writing to recording to the final mix is all for nothing, how many people take these leaked copies and don't bother buying the album, therefore not supporting our heroes?!

I've got a few of the tracks, I may even download somemore, but I'm still gonna be first in the queue to get the album when it comes out.

Considering the fact what the band have been through with this album, ditching producers and a album load of songs, just to get it perfect for the fans, don't you think we owe it to them to wait for the official release. They made sacrifices for us, otherwise the album would have been out a year ago, don't you think we should give them the respect and wait a while longer?

My thoughts about it have been on here a few times already but I can do this one more time. The leaking is horrible. It ruins the suprise for the fans and takes the money of the labels. Although, the leak is good for the band. I'm again against the leaking, but since it has, I can't just don't download it. But I won't download the entire album anyways..

I cant agree more with gowerlee. Oasis are the greatest band today, and deserve that anticipation. What if this is their last album? Just in case they dont make another, dont you want to at least have the suspense of waiting for the album. Its like stealing you guys. Fucking download and steal other band's song's if you MUST, but please, wait for Oasis they are back, and who knows when this will happen agsain, because nothing in life is certain. THank You

Sorry, I can't agree with anyone downloading any leaks no matter what they are or when they are leaked. Release dates are release dates and I would rather deal with the anticipation of the album being released.
How do we know that people aren't downloading to see if they like the new material, and then choosing not to buy the album if they don't like it....FUCK THAT OASIS 'TIL I DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not defending those who download and don't buy but i hate when people try to use the defense in favor of not downloading that its harming oasis when oasis are probably busy living in homes 5 times larger than ours with money beyond our comprehension. somehow I really don't think it matters if oasis make 2 mil instead of 3mil. yes I download leaked albums but I buy them as well, oasis get their money from me so dont blame me just because I would like to hear it sooner rather than later, its not the end of the fucking world. I also dislike when people argue that there is more excitement or anticipation when you wait for the cd to come out... thats BS for me, I anticipate the leak and get excited about the music in any format just as much as I would the with cd. I'm not trying to say anyone is wrong for not downloading the album, if thats your preference than thats your perference, i dont care. but personally I just don't think that the arguements for not downloading it before buying it are good ones. oh and I especially hate that... nothing gives anyone the right to decide who is a "true" fan and who isn't. thats just arrogance.

I think not everyone who works for Sony Music and/or relies on album sales for their income is a millionare.
As for the band it's a matter of your personal ethics. I think it's still a wrong to them regardless of how they're going to miss the money. But if other people see it differently, fair enough.
It's a personal thing whether or not the right time for hearing the music means something to you. Personally, I've got to have as much of a real and old fashioned first listening experience as possible. If I've waited three years for this album, I can wait one more month.

The people that work for Sony are going to get paid no matter how well the album sells. Perhaps you were unaware, but Sony also sells other products besides Oasis albums.
Furthermore, anyone who doesn't realize that Oasis and Sony leaked the tracks on purpose to generate word of mouth is stupid.
Also, it is Sony's duty to protect the content of the album. If they fail to keep it from the public, then they are to blame for us downloading it.

If people don't want to BUY it, they won't. The album will be available for download sooner or later. By later I mean release day, and by sooner what happens to every single album out there.
As for the album being available a little less than one month before the official release; I don't like it. If I had the album before everyone, I would shut up about it and not leak it. If I met someone who had it, I would try to convince them not to leak it. But the album is available in good quality and I will listen to it as soon as I can, because I fuckin love Oasis. I'm sorry but the band won't care if I listened to the album before I bought it on May 30.
If you want to be mad at someone it should be at iTunes for being so dumb, and the press for telling the general public that the album has leaked. I think it's fine if only the people antecipating it more (the people who live Oasis every day) know about the leak, but if it's in the fucking newspapers it's a different story.
But in the end it comes to this: albums leak, Oasis knows about it, Sony knows about it. They deal with it, so should you.
Me, I'm listening to it right now. I'm excited as fuck, and I don't regret getting the whole album at all. I will buy it when the day comes, but I will enjoy the MUSIC for 4 weeks until that day comes. That's what Oasis means to me anyway, it's all about the MUSIC.

Look, I understand they make millions so waht's the big deal argument - but it actually doesn't make sense. Ethics isn't about what will actually make a difference or not it's about being consistent and not being a jerk. ie - If I go out and murder someone, the world will not collapse into anarchy. If I break into a store to steal some bread the store will not go bankrupt If I kick you a little bit, you're not going to die, If I steal some money from you you're not going to be broke BUT IF EVERYONE did these things then shit would be fucked up. That's why it's immoral. and so if you cannot permit everyone to do it what makes you so exceptional - ie - what makes you an exception? Nothing! It's unethical, plain and simple. If I steal the CD from the store the store will still be in business. If everyone steals the CD it won't. Why can I say I should steal the CD, but others can't. On what grounds? None. Not only does "it's ok b/c not everyone's doing it" not give you a legitimate reason to do it, but infact it is a reason for hwy you shouldn't do it, b/c if you do it then it gives OTHERS a reason to do it as well (as in, well if bill's going to steal from the store, why can't I?) do you people get it yet? read an ethics textbook

I think if the music industry came up with some proper working business models for the internet, they wouldn't be in the mess they are today. I am sure there are many ways how they could make money through the internet, instead of complaining that everyone is just downloading or stealing their music. They're just lightyears behind...I still can't believe they needed someone like Apple to show them how it works.
