Guys, I just fell off the wagon. Wasn't looking for the new tracks in PARTICULAR, but am currently on one of the P2P networks, and just for kicks, I searched for "Oasis Let There Be Love", and THERE IT WAS. Before clicking on it, I said to myself, "NO. I shouldn't". But then I did. And I just listened to it, and after all the hype on here about how good it was supposed to be, I am disappointed, it doesn't sound at all what I thought it would sound like! (And yes, this is the REAL LTBL, not the demo from SOTSOG.)... to be quite honest, I was yawning through the whole thing. How can everyone say that this is the next Oasis anthem?? I thought it would be beefed up from the demo, with a wall of electricity behind it, like Champagne Supernova... well, see what happens when you sike yourself up for something and it doesn't happen. I don't think it's even up to snuff with All Around The Fukking World! The only good thing about the song, I must say, is hearing the best vocal out of Liam since his Morning Glory days. I don't want to turn everyone against me on here, and by no means do I want to insult my favorite band, and the greatest band in the world. But I just had to come on here and vent, I'm sure you guys will understand and not get pissy with me. I know I'm just one person, and this is just one opinion, but GeezusChrist, you all had this built up to be the next Stairway To Heaven, and now I hear it and I'm like, huh?? I want to ball my eyes out now, really and truly, because now 1) I ruined my "Christmas morning" which was going to be the morning of May 31st, heading down to the record store and hearing EVERYTHING (except Lyla) FRESH for the first time. I just fukkin FUKKED myself in the ass, folks. and 2) This epic album closer isn't NEARLY as exciting as I thought it would be, I repeat, that's just MY opinion. I know you'll all disagree with me. And this P2P I'm using right now, all the other tracks are THERE. THERE THEY ARE, RIGHT THERE WAITING, WITH THE CLICK OF THE MOUSE. My question to you now, is, since I just d-loaded LBTL, should I keep on going and get the rest of the songs, also? Or should I wait? Maybe hearing some of the other songs will cheer me up? Or will they depress me even more?? Thanks for listening to me whine guys.

I dunno dude, it's a great tune. It sucks that you don't find it to be great, but I'm sure you'll enjoy the rest of the album. Check out Guess God Thinks I'm Abel and Importance of Being Idle, my favorites.

Yeah, i don't think it is so great..repetitive...no real melody or hooks...and too long. It is an OK song, nothing more IMHO.

Just get the album now and buy it when it comes out, you're not hurting anyone.
But don't share on P2P programs cause a lot of people there are not fans and only want to download the songs.
Also, I would recommend (if you have the will power) to only listen to the songs after you have all of them. But be careful cause there are a lot of fakes and clips on p2p programs, I would get it in another way.

Don't download anymore songs, it won't heal your depression no matter how good they are I think. The feeling you''ll get from downloading them on a P2P client can't compare to the one you get from when you put in the CD on the 31st of may. If you dl the tracks, you'll regret it.
Cheers man:)

Thanx for understanding, shortdude... It's probably MY fault, the vocals are about as good as I expected them to be, but, I thought that it would be more electric, like, starting out how it does, but then building and building and building and then topping out with a wall of organs and electric guitars...

Another thing you expected it to be something else, that'a probably why you're depressed. Always give a songs a few listens and get used to it before saying you don't like it or not.

And thank you to all the rest of you who have responded so far, you all have respected my opinion and for that I am grateful... like I said before , my intent is not to insult the greatest rock n roll band that God has ever put on this green earth since the Beatles, but I always give my honest opinion, I always keep it real, even if it means giving the thumbs down to an Oasis track... if you look at my other posts I'm sure you will see that I am madferit and always will be, and regardless of anything else June 24th will be one of the greatest days of my life (when they come to the Tweeter Center), I'm just glad that I have a place to come and connect with people who know EXACTLY what I am trying to say and mean shit I'm really rambling on now but thanx again and cheers to you all!

I think you're suffering from a disconnect between what you expected and what you got. If I were you I would not download any more songs. Just wait till May 31st and pick up the album. Then, listen to the whole thing straight through. And forget Champagne Supernova. I know you were expecting a new one, but realistically could anybody ever pull off a new CS? That song is now in the past. It's done, it's great, it's there. It's time to move on and try some new things. They're not trying to do excitement anymore. They've done that for so long they've exhausted it. Every attempt to make a new Champagne Supernova has fallen flat on its face. This record isn't a big electric tour-de-force like Morning Glory or Definitely Maybe. It's a laid-back collection of instrospective, largely acoustic tunes. It's a different direction from them and I think the results will make people happy. Let There Be Love is a fantastic song, if you take it for what it is. Don't get depressed because it's different from what you expected. Maybe take a break from it - don't listen to it till May 31st. Then sit back and enjoy it - it's slower, more restrained, than any epic they've done before. That's the whole point. It's not SUPPOSED to be a new Champagne Supernova. It's Let There Be Love. The slow, spare production is what makes the song what it is. And I think in the context of the whole album it'll sound great. If you can separate what you're hearing from what you want to hear - if you try to appreciate what IS there, not what isn't - I think you'll find the song far better than you thought initially.

Thanx a lot, Slide, your making sense, I really appreciate your wisdom on this one. I'm starting to feel a bit better now, maybe I just jumped the gun on this one... Yeah. Give it some time. If you want to listen to Champagne Supernova, just go listen to Champagne Supernova! And there's a lot to appreciate with LTBL. Go listen to Imagine or Mind Games by John Lennon. The come listen to LTBL. I think you'll really find you appreciate it. Those solo-Lennon epics are probably the closest comparison one could make with the song. And listen hard to the lyrics. They're fantastic - They may well be Noel's best lyrics ever, even if they are a bit melodramatic.

So...............are you going on about LTBL or the entire album??
Those other Oasis songs you mentioned aren't close to my favorite anyway. As far as album closes I'll take Roll It Over and does it matter how an album closes?? Just program it differently when you play it!!!! It's just managemnt decisions on that.

i know exactly what your saying, stay strong brother! ive listened to this album in bits and just starting to get the vibe!i think it rocks, not just from an oasis fans point of view, but from a "fucking good music" point of view. you can smell the maturity, production and difference in direction. its like zane lowe said "theres a tremor in the force"!

I have to say, I was also kind of disappointed with LTBL. On the whole I really like the new album, think it's great. But on LTBL I think Noel was trying so hard to shy away from over-production that he has kind of cut off his nose to spite his face.
The song cries out for that little something... extra. Even if Noel came back in with vocals at the end and traded "Let there be love..."'s with Liam, it would build the song. But I think he has been so keen to not do a flag-waver that he has taken a flag-waving song and emasculated it, kind of.
The end of the tune cries out for a crescendo, NOT in the CS sense of wailing guitars etc (that IS in the past, we have to accept it), but you could still have the song build to an emotional release and be true to the overall freehand spirit of the album. I mean the HUGE pause between Noel's bridge and Liam coming back in - why? This will knacker the tune as a big hit single, which is what it SHOULD be.
For me LTBL was a disappointment on an otherwise great record (GGTIA, TIOBI - fucking brilliant!)

You will be pleased to know that LTBL is the weakest song on the album, despite the fanboy reviews, so don't be disheartened. The rest of the album is superb.
(LTBL has already been deleted from my iPod)

For me the album is 8.5/10. If LTBL were replaced with Stop the Clocks, it would have been 9.5/10

I wasn't all that impressed with WTSMG when it came out. For me it was a grower cos it seemed too light and poppy compared to DM. Wonderwall and CS were songs that took me awhile to appreciate.
You will like LTBL, give it some time
