I know I'm gonna get bashed for this one, but am I the only one that's a bit disappointed with the new songs and clips? All I read on here is how great and fantastic and refreshing it all is. One minute everyone wants a new DM, then everyone's praising this new sound... Well I for one have heard this "new" sound before and it was called SOTSOG... Not that SOTSOG was a bad album, just not what you want an Oasis album to sound like. Let's face it, they don't exactly squirt out albums like eggs outta a chickens arse. I've heard a few full songs and a few 1min clips....
Turn Up the Sun - pretty good, better than Hindu? nope
Mucky Fingers - different, in a good way, better than than LBL? nope
Lyla - rubbish
Guess God Thinks I'm Abel - didn't hear much of this one sounded pretty good.
Part of the Queue - won't get a second listen
Love's Like a Bomb - how did this make the album?
The Importance of Being Idle - ain't heard it.
Keep the Dream Alive - would have been a good b side
The Meaning of Soul - actually enjoy this one
A Bell Will Ring - just about the only moment of clarity on the whole album
Let There Be Love - pure quality
SO BEFORE, you all bitch at me, hey let's face it... track for track, DBTT is no better than HC. And HC gets slagged off by you lot worse than BHN or SOTSOG. Have it. ;D

Turn Up the Sun - pretty good, better than Hindu? nope, MUCH BETTER.
Mucky Fingers - different, in a good way, better than than LBL? nope, MUCH BETTER. LBL was bad produced, and it was the same boring shit that Noel had written 200 times since SOTSOG (WDIAGW, SMC, Carry Us All, Just Getting Older, One Way Road, Cigarettes In Hell...). To me it was trhe same shit.
Lyla - The worst song in the album, but still good. Better than Roll With It or Hey Now, for example.
Guess God Thinks I'm Abel - didn't hear much of this one sounded pretty good.
Part of the Queue - Pure quality. Sounds absolutely great. It is everything that Who Feels Love, Fade In Out and even The Gil In The Dirty Shirt should have been.
Love's Like a Bomb - how did this make the album? Well, because its Songbird 2.0. Catchy as fuck after a few listens. Its not the next Champagne Supernova, but it is still much better than Shes Electric, for example.
The Importance of Being Idle - Pure class.
Keep the Dream Alive - would have been a good b side (agreed)
The Meaning of Soul - actually enjoy this one
A Bell Will Ring - just about the only moment of clarity on the whole album
Let There Be Love - pure quality

this puts HC in the shade. HC was a poor album, this one sounds wicked.

Did the album leak already? I don't think so.
Please wait until you properly listen to it before making a judgment.

Everybody's entitled to their opinion, but I think that every single song on this album is good from the clips and leaked songs that I've heard. I think that Mucky Fingers might be the worst song on the album, but I'm even starting to like that one quite a bit after several listens.

I have only been a member since about June 2004, and i'll tell ya what... I would love, absolutely love, to see what was being said about HC after a few leaked tracks, I bet most of yas was all up its ass and stuff. Now, the big slag.
It'll be same for this album in time.
Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the biggest fans you'll ever meet. That's why I expect a lot. I've seen em live 3 times and the 4th will be this June... But i gotta say I've sampled a few clips and full tracks and they haven't even hooked me enough to find em out and download em... i'd rather listen to supersonic 20 times in a row

well i rated heathen chemistry and still do but what ive heard of this album is better in a different way. glad to see people are like meaning of soul now cuz all i ever see on here is people saying its a shit song. And another thing-why do alot of the regulars love BHN so much? some good songs yes but play the album now and its just so long, by the you get to magic pie half the days gone. DYKWIM single aside BHN-era b sides were pure shit as well.

It had great songs when it was released and they're still there, in my copy at least. ;D Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Born on a Different Cloud, Songbird, The Hindu Times, Little by Little... those are some of my favorite Oasis songs ever. It has 3 songs that I don't rate very high (She's Love, All in the Mind, Better Man) but I never skip them when I listen to the album. It's the best Oasis album since DM in my opinion. Also, if you listen to a song 20 times in a row then you sir have a problem, I don't care how fucking good it is. Sometimes I feel people will never like Oasis like they did back then no matter what they do. But they can still make a fucking great rock album.

HC is probably my least fav Oasis album, mainly cuz it lacks consistancy; it just seems like a collection of tracks (though, many seem to be tilting towards the concept of redemption). When I listen to the tracks from this new album (or the clips i should say), I like what I'm hearing, because there's a real depth to the song writing. And oddly enough, it gives me a bit more perspective on HC. Oasis, despite what they or many people think or say, is a progressive band; with every album they venture forward into a new territory. For example, songs like Wonderwall or Cast No Shadow would seem out of place in Definitely Maybe. And songs from Be Here Now (eg My Big Mouth, All Around the World) were too 'big' to fit into an album like Morning Glory. And clearly, SOTSOG was an all new terrain for the band in terms of concept and progression (just a question, does anyone else get the whole 'circle' thing in that album, or do i read too much into it?). The new album follows the progression thing that they're doing, it's what any good songwriter has to do; there's a lot of acoustic numbers, its a lot more mellow, the content looks at some big ideas (like a world coming undone at the seams) and keeps it real at the same time (talkin bout lining up for a pint of milk). And from my vantage point, HC was kinda the middle ground for it; you can see some hints of the blues in it, and the big ideas, and the unscathed acoustic simplicity. I dunno, if any of that made any sense at all, then thats great, if not, fuck it, just spreading my opinion is all.

But this album sounds great mature full of various influences unashamedly so. I think Liam has come of age as a talent in his own right. And better yet theyre all a bunch of lads focused now on making great music instead of taking shed loads of chemicals so far this album seems like its gonna be a good milestone for them

Essentially SOTSOG was just Noel, Liam, and Alan in the studio. HC was the new lineup finally in the studio. I think the band really didn't know their full potential. I think DBTT will be their best work since Morning Glory.

I think the band essentially crumbled under the weight of the expectations. People gave good reviews because it was Oasis, but looking back now, there are really only a couple of tracks that stand out.

^^^^ I agree man. HC is pretty damn good and gets slagged off for God knows what reason. If SCYHO and LBL would have been released in the US , I think people would have liked them here again and I think it would have set them up nicely for this album. This new album sounds like it will be better than HC and that is GREAT news. and yes, BHN was waaaaay toooo long. If the songs were shorter it would have been alot better. But there's my two cents for ya'll.
- cheers !
