I'm seriously hoping they will move the release to May 16. The article about the 4 tracks leaking mentioned:
"The British rockers, fronted by brothers LIAM and NOEL GALLAGHER, are set to release their sixth album DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH on 16 May (05)."
A few things:
1) Lyla was played on the radio in early April. That's a 2-month gap from the official date, I'm sure 1.5 months could be enough.
2) Someone posted here that MTV (Holland? don't remember) will play the full album on May 23. That's one week before the official release date.
3) They would avoid competing with Coldplay's album (June 6). They would be 3 weeks in the charts without Coldplay's album, instead of just one.
4) They will play 8 songs from the new album on the new tour, starting May 10.
Either way, when it's released in Japan (May 25?) it will definately be available for download, and I WILL download it (and buy a week later of course). But I really hope it DOESN'T leak too soon.
EDIT: had to edit because I accidently pressed Enter.

Well, every site still has the album as being released on May 30 or 31st. The single comes out on the 16th, so maybe they got confused. Noel did say in the webcast that he wished the album were out earlier, because they are going to be playing these small club gigs, and they are going to have to limit the amount of new songs they play so that the songs aren't all over the internet before the album's released (I don't see what this matters at all since they're live versions, but that's what he said in the interview). Personally, I would like it, but I don't think it'll happen unless the whole album leaks all over the internet very soon.

They'd also have to move the single up a week or two if the album is released early, and it is almost the end of April and nothing has been said about this, so I don't think it will happen.
I could be wrong, but I just have a feeling that it won't be released early.

i think they should have planned it to be released earlier...as you said, i think the release date of the album and the the airplay of lyla are so far away that 1 1/2 months is more than sufficient to get ppl interested.
but since they have already they made the decision to release it may 31st they should probably stick to it. it'll prolly confuse people as it has so widely been advertised, and all of it saying may 31st.
but yeah...i jsut think the whole thing has been planned a bit shit. i suppose at those small club gigs they'll play the songs ppl have already heard from the album...i mean msot of us (which doenst include myself, btw) have heard 6 out of 11 songs (right? lyla, keep the dream alive, mucky fingers, let there be love, meaning of soul, glastonbury version of a bell will ring). so they have more than enough to play at those gigs. i hope they dont play others cos then most ppl will have heard the entire bloody album before the album release.

I'm not comparing The Stones and Beatles with Coldplay and Oasis but let's remind you of something. In the 60's great bands like the Stones and the Beatles scheduled their releases far from eachother, to prevend that the buyers are all fishing in the same water.
The biggest concurrent right now, when it comes to sales is Coldplay. Plus; many Oasisfans are potentially Coldplay buyers and the other way also. If you're a young fan, maybe you cannot afford to buy them both in a short period of 1/2 weeks. This could influence the sales of both albums.

What I wanted to ask; which source are the facts coming from?
