Wasn't quite sure where to post this so sorry if it has to be moved but......
...as the albums have progressed, then the classic noel gallagher guitar solo's have all but dried up! Early on, you can hear the grandure and pure egotystical belief in themselves through Noels sometimes simple but so "oasis" guitar solo's, yet they have gradually become less and less so with each album. The finest on the last album by a long way was played by Johnny Marr! I think its gone along with Oasis' toning down over the years. From what I've heard it may sound like DBTT will only continue to prove the point. The opportunities for solo's in the leaked tracks seem to be used for little more than instrumental breaks these days. Does anyone else have an opinion on the matter.....or does it matter not at all? I'm not saying it does, just that the point exists I think!

I dunno, what about:
Hindu Times Little By Little Did SCYHO have one? cant remember now...
I see what you're saying but I see them as a completely different band to what they were in their 'glory' years. You cant beat a good Noel solo though.

yea he doesnt do like be here now solos, but the songs they do now don't really call for technical solos. for example, you can't really fret tap during hindu times or lyla

I have noticed, for sure. I still pull on BHN for Its Gettin Better Man or My Big Mouth, now that's a solo. Better Man had some good bits in it, but nothing else since BHN has been very detailed in terms of solo break. Hindu Times, Full On, Little By Little, that stuff is relatively easy compared to Def. Maybe. Think back to Some Might Say, DLBIA, or even It's Good to be Free. I mean, those solo's bring so much to the song, it's a shame that we don't get more of that nowadays. Short and sweet will do it, like Cigs and Alcohol. BRING BACK SOLOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have two guitarists that are capable, maybe even 3.

Best solo I've heard was Champagne Supernova Knebworth 96. That was fucking Hendrix.

You have two guitarists that are capable, maybe even 3. yeah, maybe even noel. andy bell is by far the best guitarist in oasis, it pisses me off that nobody gives him credit for what he can do. personally i like the solos too, thing is though that as soon as they do those long solos they get critized for that too.

Guitar solos are not really popular in rock n roll at the moment. Shorter songs are again the rule rather than the exception. Can you think of many current rock singles that feature prominent guitar solos? Franz, Killers, Kasabian?
Noel wants the new album to sound like Oasis 2005, not Oasis 1995. As for the songs it's difficut to imagine our kid writing a tune with a Noel solo in mind. No doubt if Noel wrote more epic tunes with guitar solos like Champagne Supernova and DLBIA, the critics would slam Noel for mining past glory- and many of you lot might say the same.

I agree with you about Andy, he is an excellent guitarist. I thin they should bring back solos, you can have a rocking, interesting guitar solo that doesn't have to go on for 5 minutes. They got stick for it on BHN cos every song had a load of guitar plastered all over them - it was too much. And while i am really enjoying the new, more experimental Oasis, I would like to hear a decent new guitar solo every now and again. Like LF or DLBIA - they don't outstay their welcome but while they are there they rock and rock HARD. The guitar solos on the last few singles - well, there haven't been any! LBL is the nearest to having one. SCYHO doesn't, it just has a little riff picked on the D chord, Songbird didn't have one, and The Hindu Times did, but it was basically just playing the dead easy main riff a bit higher up the neck. I miss the solos too.

I think the last time they had Oasis type solos was SOTSOG album with WDIAGW and Go let it Out. But they don't need it the lyrics and riffs still do it for them. But I understand what your saying. Not only Noel but Gem can for sure krank a huge solo out.

I agree I use to go nuts with noel"s solos... champagne supernova in gmex, gas panic! in rock in rio...maybe they weren't anything like hendrix but they added a lot to the songs.. check don't go away and stand by me for instance... they're fuckin' beautiful...I"ve liked what noel use to do at the end of born on a different cloud with the wah wah, fuckin' cool too... the new songs sound great but I still think it was a mistake to have left the guitar solos behind....
