From what we've heard so far we're going to see a more subdued, more mature Oasis on this record.
The songs are going to be beautiful but more acoustic-based, more folksy, with a more spacious production and introspective lyrics. The infuences will be more solo-Lennon, Bob Dylan, etc.
We are NOT going to see too many big guitar solos. No huge titanic riffs and bone-crunching hooks. No big sing-a-long anthemic choruses or loud production.
The result will be an album that I think will bring the band a new fanbase. I really this album will earn them the best reviews since, ironically, Be Here Now (which debuted to unanimous 5-star reviews). The critics will love it. New fans will love it. And lots of old fans will love it too.
But in any progression, some fans will probably be left behind. Some of those fans who loved Oasis for the big sing-a-long anthems that RAWKED may not take to the album too well. I think we're already seeing that.
Just a prediction.
Personally, I'm really looking forward to it b/c I really want some progression. I like progression. In fact, I liked SOTSOG better than HC for that reason. I want something different, more introspective from the band. I can listen to their '94-'97/'98 material any time I want. I don't need a retread.

Good thoughts on the album. If mucky is filler then it's fucking good filler!! Noel singing hardrock dylan, damn it's good. I actually think "Thank you for the good times" is better then KTDA. But hey thats just me. Now "meaning of soul" is fucking great too. With LTBL, mucky and meaning of soul I am one very very very happy guy ;D

Mucky Fingers is my least favorite. If I had to rank them based on what we've heard.
1. Keep The Dream Alive 2. A Bell Will Ring 3. Lyla 4. Let There Be Love 5. The Meaning Of Soul 6. Mucky Fingers

Im not sure it will cause some fans to abandon ship cos us oasis fans are a loyal bunch(i think the ones giving it some lip ain't true fans), but your right they do seem to have tried something a little different and may well entice some new fans aboard the good ship oasis. Some people may not like the progression but theres gonna be the anthems on there no doubt(Lyla's a definite summer sing-a-longer!) I personally think keep the dream alive is a definite grower, i just picked me mate up and put the tracks on and he loved keep the dream alive and Meaning of soul much the same as me, crank that monster up in the car and fucking ave it(may need a new steering wheel now though!)
Cheers

It looks like oasis decided not to use electric guitar so much...There are no tracks like Morning glory, Roll with it or even Hung in the bad place or I can see a liar... but I like the "new style"... it is better than "no style" of Heathen chemistry

it seems like they have grow up, and this is the begining of a new oasis, and I'm happy, I don't want a band sounds the same all their life, I don't want a new WTS or a new DM, I want DBTT...it looks like a comercial ;D

I really hope it doesn't split the fans. Everyone's moan about Oasis is that they always do the same old same old, and never try anything new. Well now they are, so let's support them! They've been playing it safe for a long time so I for one am pleased to see them stretching themselves a bit.
And it isn't like they've gone all Kid A and done something completely off the wall. A little growth is a good thing that goes a long way. I am more psyched about this record now than ever.

well they'll loose fans whatever they do. its the ones that love the band even if they make a reggae record that count.
i think this album will get a 4 star review from rolling stone and 9/10 from the nme

i think its gonna get mixed reviews - out of the 5 we've got. here's what i think
mucky fingers - good let there be love - good
keep the dream - average meaning of soul - rubbish(never liked it,even from glasto)
lyla - a real grower, and good and there is gonna be a lot of people who wont like part of the queue( i've heard about a minute of it)
