(someone posted something similar a while back, but me being the lazy ass will not bother finding the thread so here it is )
ok so Lyla is out on the radio, the video is on tv, and yet the actual single is almost a month away from official release. By the time it gets out, everyone will have heard the song and no one will be interested anymore (the general public, not fans). Sure you might say they don't care about selling records, but it is a business and it doesn't seem like a smart move.
Same goes with the album - i'm assuming demos, and versions of the album have been sent out to industry types, reviewers etc etc... and the album is more than a month from release. With the way the world works that just screams out "leak me"
maybe Noel just got April and May mixed up? ...

It's always like that. Allows radio stations and televisions stations to rotate the single. Also, gives the band a chance to do some promo work. That's what I think.

well to be honest I made the initial post and surprise surprise, I did agree with you -the reason is of course that we are not normal people - MOST people haven't heard the single yet and MOST don't know they've got a new album coming out - if it were to come out tomorrow it would do really really badly (ok - it would do fine b/c they have enough dedicated fans - but still not as well as it could) I mean, there have been like, what 4 radio stations that have it on their top ten most requested, - other than that - has anyone even heard it on their radio station yet? I've heard it once! and I don't think it's been on mtv or muchmusic yet so....I mean it might be prudent to give it time - but preventing leaks should also be a consideratin - ultimately - why the fuck aren't they playing it on the radio or mtv!? I mean, sure it's not their best but it's better than theory of a deadman or any of that crap
