I know this should prob be in the media area, so mods feel free to move it...i just wanted as many people to see it as possible. anyways vh1 classic is currently running this 7 part series on the history of rock n roll called "the 7 ages of rock". Each segment is an hour long and the 6th (or 7th) is entitled "british indie rock" it's particularly well-done for a one hour (really 40 mins with commercials) episode and it spends a great spell bowing down to the thrown of oasis. great stuff. i have directv, but i imagine its on any of the vh1 classic channels, regardless of the satellite or cable systems.

I have it, if any one wants an upload. Great stuff, though I do wish they covered more bands (like Primal Scream, Supergrass) and didn't put bands like the Manics and The Verve in a bad light.

I have seen it and I must say I was thrilled with how much coverage Oasis got in the 7th installment on British Indie, but I must say they missed the most important era for rock ever.
1955-1964
Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley & The Comets, Elvis etc.
The Day the Music Died!!!!
You can tell it was a BBC production. None of that music above= No Beatles. No Beatles means......you get my point.

Music didn't die that day. But I agree that decade really became the foundation rock and roll was built on.

no verve, no stereophonics, no travis. too much suede, coldgay. average program at best. I do like how they talked about knebworth, about how it was TOO big. But fuck it, everybody that went knew what they were getting into. No complaing.

I would've preferred a bit more coverage of Pulp and the Verve, since it was supposed to be about British Indie and all. Otherwise, very enjoyable. Interesting hearing Bonehead's take on Knebworth...

But fuck it, everybody that went knew what they were getting into. No complaing. They did show album covers of the Verve, Stereophonics, and Travis but they were all portrayed in a very bad light. "Oh, they're only following the trends" or whatever. I especially dislike that John Harris. Sounds very much like a music elitist, "oh I heard them from first so I'm better then you". Holier then thou, that kind of bullshit. Then again, he is a musical journalist...
