I wouldnt be surprised if Liam had actually described it as such
Getting a bit bored with what liam has to say lately. just seems to regurgitate the same shite all the time

Call me crazy but I'm not thrilled with the fact there are no acoustic guitars on this record. I like a few nice acoustic/progressive songs per album like they've done with every record aside from DM and BHN.
I don't know...There only seems to be so much you could do without an acoustic guitar. And considering Noel kept talking about throwing the kitchen sink at this record, I'm curious as to how that's gonna work now?

StopTheClocks, you may not need to worry because I have the feeling there will be some great acoustic ballad B-sides with this new album. Noel will be sitting on them without being able to put them on the album and, as usual, put out some B-sides that are absolutely beautiful. Mark my words.

He is getting kind of repetitive but I don't think he's to the point yet where's he's repeating himself verbatim.

If it were to be on the new album, i could see them making it electric, adding an intro with heavy feedback (like in the live version) , and extending the solo a little. To be honest i would have liked that more anyway. With the songwriting maturity that they have now, I think this album could be absolutly great. I really want another huge album with rockers and anthems and whatnot.

Noel described DBTT as "acoustically driven" on a couple of different occasions, before there was even talk about LP7. I think we can count on the "fuckin' rocking" tunes to stay the way they are.
But yes, the ones that are too soft for the new sound will probably make their way to the b-sides. We just gotta pray that they're better than the b-sides from DBTT.

I'll admit, the DBTT b-sides on a whole weren't as strong as Oasis b-sides have been. Although I LOVE "Eyeball Tickler" and I think "The Quiet Ones" is pretty good.

I like the way you put that, except then again there are songs on DBTT like Part of the Queue and LLAB and that if made 100% electric, wouldn't be half as good as they turned out to be. I'm excited, but anxious to see how this turns out. It could be mega or it could be the dumbest idea they've ever had

it sure has been quiet around this board lately!
on that note, i'm very much looking forward to the new album... it's about time they made a properly grandiose rock and roll record. it's what they do best!

The bottom line is it's all about the songs. If the songs are generically rockers and are lending themselves to what Noel and Liam have been talking about in terms of how they want the new record to sound then it will be fine. What I worry about is that they've decided they want a rockier album, and are forcing the songs through the production to sound that way even if they don't lend themselves to a heavier sound.
I always think it's dangerous when bands go into the studio with pre-concieved ideas about how an album should sound. The best albums are always ones where the songs have dictated the direction of the record, not a band's desire for a certain sound. If you happen to be writing more rocky songs fine, but as I say, I really hope they're not forcing the songs to be something they're not.

if the album is going to be very groovy and rocking, then they should just listen to houses of the holy, cos that album is just fucking groovy man!

I'm all for a balls-out rocker...force it out if you have to. this isn't some mom and pop outfit, this is one of the most important and successful bands of the last twenty years, anf they're at their best when it's straight ahead rock n roll.
I want an album that makes me want to punch someone in the face after the first 4 songs (somethin' like fuckin in the bushes, rock n roll star, eyeball tickler and the LDSMD version of the meaning of soul).
but that's probably because I'm a nut job.

Am i the only one thinking that they should have finished more than eight songs for the amount of time they've been recording. Its a bit slow especially when they aren't writing them in the studio but bringing whole songs to record.

Encouraging its going to be an 'electric' album. Sorry I'm bored with the Acoustic/Folk/Trad Jazz Rock combo oasis has been for a while. I want the band to make an unashamedly large ambitious overthe top LOUD album like DM. Of the albums made in the last two years I have been most impressed by MUSE. Their last album had some amazing stuff on it like Assassin.
