I really don't like the way this internet music stuff is going. Whatever happened to the days of going down the the record store, buying a record, being extremely excited to get it home, putting it in the player, cranking up the volume, opening a beer, and reclining back in your favorite chair to enjoy the tunes. That's what rock n' roll is, as the cliche goes, "all about."

I agree... really though, I guess some of us are getting a little long in the tooth. Internet is the way business is done nowadays.... Shame really, I too, always looked forward to getting the album the day it was released and listening to it full on driving home. Fuck it, as long as they visit Canada or the NE USA on the tour it's all good.

Now it's easier and more efficient Instead: Download the tunes from itunes or whatever in great anticipation, starting it up after the 2min wait, cranking up the volume, opening a beer (not that i would know, still only 19...), and reclining back in your favourite chair (again, not that i would know, with these dorm chairs we get) to enjoy the tunes. Nothing, essentially, has changed. You oldies! My gen grew up with the internet, we see no problems with it.

Seems to be good for putting the band in the US headlines , counted about 8 US media sources who have been reporting about the possibility...

what does piss me off about itunes and the like is that if your computer dies, you lose thousands of thousands of songs....(and thousands of dollars/pounds/yen/you get the idea....lol)
And yeah, i agree with you.
For the bands i REALLY like, i buy the CD. Like for Oasis, for example.
For some reason, i hate burnt CDs too, and the actual CD is much better. Although, that hardly makes sense if you think about it!!

Yeah I lost a shit load of music when my computer died a while back. Luckily I had all of the hard copies to back it up. I love buying albums and really don't like the idea of digital (only) singles, albums etc. Leave it up to the purchaser to choose what they want.
The press has been good though. It's the most I've seen Oasis in mainstream media in a while in the U.S.

ya I don't mind selling songs on the net, but still would like to buy the real CD. I heard on the radio something like 40% of the people downloading the new Radiohead paid around 10 pounds, 10% paid more and only like 10% were getting it for free. Frankly if I had 10 million in the bank I'd be more than happy to give it away like that, knowing the real fans would cough up the cash for the CD when it comes out.
As for a new band, lots of them already give everything away on the net just trying to reach people and get their stuff out there, and then things change when they get signed. I don't think this Radiohead experiment heralds the end of the record industry, but ya the times they are a' changin

it's all bollocks to me things lately are real shit where music buying is concerned.like LDSMd only available to d/l?? that's shit.if anything i think cd singles shouldn't be released no more & for just albums to be released,maybe lord dont slow me down will be on the next album? radiohead are shit i wouldn't download em for free ... let's hope the oasis album is released properly,the thing is if everyone downloaded the new radiohead album for free what do the band make out of it? i agree with the rest of ya i'd rather have the original cd

MeanStreak: I disagree with you. No one wants to spend money. We all search for the sales and the best deals. Why would you want to give your money away? seems pretty foolish....
Songnbird: I see what your saying. But thats the trend.
Thats how these things happen.
Record --> Tapes --> CDs --> Downloading
and likewise: VCR --> DVDs
And in 15-20 years (maybe even sooner at this rate) there will be another technology thing availiable which will make downloads as we know it obsolete.

They still own the music and get money from touring. I see no problem with it, millions download the albums for free illegally anyway. Why not just give it to the fans for free? It's not Noel is on the corner of the street begging for money.

if you all look at the hmv site,type in radiohead & look at their albums,in rainbows is set for release but the date aint confirmed yet.if that's the case then it's ok.obviously fans of oasis or radiohead will wanna buy the real deal,elvis & the beatles will never be beaten for cd sales now.internet should be for just live gigs if anything.maybe if cd's were £5 when they're released people would buy more?
