Can't be arsed treading the 'Be Here Now is great, no it isn't, yes it is, no it isn't' debate for the billionth time, but what I have to pick up on is the slagging off of the arena shows. 'Indulgent and arrogant'? What the hell else do you expect from a rock band? Oh right, as opposed to the modest offerings you get from every other band touring arenas or stadiums...
Also, having seen Oasis live since '94, I'd argue that the BHN Tour captures them at their best. Someone should send that writer Den Bosch, or Budokan, or Earl's Court, or G-Mex - I could go on.

What I find interesting is that many 'critics' are now reappraising their reappraisals.
Now that we have had 3 albums since then and numerous other bands from their era either implode, put out worse albums than 'Be Here Now' or just slowly become irrelevant, they are realising that 'if' this is Oasis at it's worst then they are pretty damn good.
This may be the #1 album of all time that needs a 'stripped' or 'naked' redoing. Cut down to 60 minutes and put 'Stay Young' and take off (?....everyone choose their own) it would have been mega.

I'm sick as fucking hell of people ragging the piss out of BHN. It fucking does it for me, 10 years later, and if any music critic vagina out there wants to say I don't have any musical taste, I'll kick em in the fuckin nose. Only the fuckin rock snobs and Radiohead fans don't care for it. Even Chuck motherfuckin klosterman said it was better than anything by blur, and hes a goddamn vagina if i ever saw one. its just one of those things that people cant bring themselves to admit they like i think... its like oasis pretty much, which the fuckin rock snobs wont admit to liking, at their most oasis-est.
fuck em. i love it. til i die.

oh hey webby... what the fucks up with changing "¢unt" to "vagina" in the posts? I had this discussion with other members a while back. I can't think of a cruder word in the US filth vocabulary. In the UK it's different. Since I have a ton of under aged members from the US I thought it would be in my best interest to make a " slightly watered down" version available.

"Vagina" seem so... uh... technical though. Maybe you could compromise... how about "box," "pussy," "twat," "honeypot," "cooter" or "muff." Or just fuckin relax about it at let the kiddies deal with it if they have terrible parents. Hell, maybe that glorious word will catch on over here and it wont be so fuckin taboo. Sorry to hijack this thread. Back to BHN being the must awesome ¢unt-licking album ever.

I've said it a million times but I'll say it again...
After listening to Definitely Maybe and WTSMG once I was blown away, after listening to Be Here Now I felt totally deflated - and it's not a 'grower' either.
Following on from two of the greatest albums of the 90s it was a huge disappointment, but I agree with NoelandMe, it is a great candidate for a Let It Be Naked-style reworking (although Noel will never do it).
For my money, if you put on Stay Young (but change the annoying guitars a bit), Going Nowhere and make Stand By Me semi-acoustic in the vein of Wonderwall that would be a start.
Then take off Magic Pie, It's Getting Better Man, shorten D'You Know What I Mean? by three minutes (and ideally write a decent chorus), and it would be a lot better.

I'd never take It's Gettin' better man!! I think it's great, it is about a minute and a half too long but I don't care...

Everyone's got there own memories involved with BHN... for me Oasis got me into rock n roll. I was 13 when BHN came out. I mean my parents had me listening to the Beatles and Stones and other oldies all my life. Oasis was the first Band that I brought to the table and said... ok have a listen to this! I remember seeing the D'ya Know What I Mean? video on MTV for the first time, and the coke fueled balls to the wall sound that Begun BHN for me was awesome. It was also a time when I had just moved to Georgia from Michigan, I didn't have many friends yet. It was something new but familiar. I remember buying it with my lawn mowing money, and taking it home and blaring it out of my speakers. My best friend in the world, Ben and I would play super nintendo and listen to BHN over and over. So to me BHN is full of good memories, it's good music. I can't listen to it over and over anymore, but it's a great album to throw in every so often and rock out to, Also great for long trips. I can see why people don't like it. But I know why some of us absolutly love it. Course I can't really think of anything that Oasis have done that I hate.

Like it or not (and I love BHN), it does capture the world of music at the time. Britpop, drugs, attitude, Oasis was the biggest band, and they made the biggest (literally) album. I think that 10-20 yrs from now BHN will be looked upon much more favorably. Whether people like it or not doesn't matter. People are still talking about it 10 years after it's release. BHN must have stuck out in this dude's mind enough for him to write something about it, good or bad.

As a sort of homage to BHN I'm reading (again) Paolo Hewitt's book 'Forever the People - six months on the road with Oasis'.
A good laugh - A good read... ;D

Like it or not (and I love BHN), it does capture the world of music at the time. Britpop, drugs, attitude, No it didn't. It captured everything that happens to a band when they get so successful and big that their heads disappear up their own arses. Its the complete antithesis to what made Oasis such a great band in the first place, and Noel knows it.

why do people think so deeply about it, you either like it or you don't. well, because music is much more than 'yeah its good' or 'no its crap' true, but you don't need a definitive story about what makes each album good or bad, its more personal than that. maybe its me but i'm bored of the be here now debate.

well, because music is much more than 'yeah its good' or 'no its crap' true, but you don't need a definitive story about what makes each album good or bad, its more personal than that. not sure i catch your drift...our personal opinions on what we like and dislike are surely stories in themselves?
