This was posted over at the Soapbox. The person who posted it has connections so I would say its believable. Apparently its from the new issue of Billboard. www.the-soapbox.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=60818In an effort to compete with Starbucks' burgeoning music label, Dunkin' Donuts has stepped into the musical fray and have signed a British rock institution, the multi-platinum selling, Oasis. Terms of the deal are unknown, but Oasis' frontman Noel Gallagher is expected at the companies headquarters outside Boston this week, along with his bandmates, to officially sign the contract that is assuredly going to be in the tens of millions. At this point the band collectively have sold over 55 million records and have sold out stadiums around the world. That's why it made sense to Dunkin' Donuts to make them the flagship artist of their new label. John Luther, CEO of Dunkin' Donuts, believes that Oasis' brand name will be a big asset to the company as they expand internationally to countries such as Japan, India, Germany, France, and of course, Oasis' homeland, the United Kingdom. In the next two to three fiscal quarters, Luther believes this signing will help launch Dunkin' Donuts into the music industry with a bang. "All and all we are very pleased to have such a world reknowed act to help us compete in the music industry." At the moment no release plans are set in stone but Luther expects to see a new record on Dunkin' Donuts shelves by the end of 2008. Dunkin' Donuts' headquarters is located in Canton, Massachusetts and is widely reknowned for their breakfast pastries and coffee. They have stores throughout the world.
