It’s not that British rock band Oasis has been around forever like the Stones. But to say that this band (formed in 1993) was both blessed and cursed from the start would be an understatement. When Noel Gallagher agreed to join his brother Liam’s band, he did so with the understanding that he would have complete control. And so, the band was immensely talented, signed almost immediately, and saw their debut become the fastest seller in British history at the time. But the dark side of stardom reared its ugly head, and the two brothers were always in the news. Why? Because they kept beating the shit out of each other. To this day, there has never been a more dysfunctional relationship in music than that of the Gallagher brothers. Over the course of the decade that followed the band’s debut, more success bred more dysfunction. In addition to the bickering, bad things happened to these guys – a cab accident that forced the cancellation of U.S. tour dates, and a street scuffle in Munich, among others. But the worst thing that has happened to the Gallagher brothers is that where great bands fight and out of that tension comes great records (Rumours, Abbey Road), the Gallaghers fight…and have made one record in the last 10 years that wasn’t crap. Familiar to millions, maybe, but these days they’re loved by hundreds. Time to give up the ghost. – Mike Farley For more bands that should break up according to Ultimate Guitar Mag : www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/bands_that_should_break_up.html?200707061640

"...and have made one record in the last 10 years that wasn’t crap." I have a feeling that most websites and magazines first look to the sales of an album, and then say if it's any good or not. Of course sales don't represent the quality of an album. "Crap" on Oasis scale, still means that 99% of all the other albums in this world are worse. In my opinion the problem with Oasis is not their albums, but their live performances (well only Liam actually ). They should do shorter tours with more days between the gigs.

Critics hating Oasis? Nothing new, they can fuck off. Oasis are for the fans, not for magazines.

I always think of Noel's "Oasis is a religion, you either believe in it, or you don't" when I read stuff like that. The DBTT Tour proved millions do still believe in it, which makes any critic's view totally irrelevant.

How does fighting within a band determine whether a band should break up or not?
And plus, thats not even true. On Lord Don't Slow Me Down, both Liam and Noel make it clear that although they fight, like siblings do, they have a deep respect and admiration for each other and their respective works. There will always be a brotherly love between them, no matter how much they squabble.
And besides, they ARE still putting out good records, so thats that

God I hope Noel doesn't read that. He's likely to take it personally and decide to scrap the new album for good.

I really hope they do finish after the next album, but not for the reasons he mentioned.

I really hope they do finish after the next album, but not for the reasons he mentioned. I think I know what you mean. Don't get me wrong people, I really love Oasis, no bands got me so straight and deep like they've done and still doing except The Smiths... but I agree with what Tez's saying.

were in the hmh ezmo?? i expected the worse but liam sounded mega there. For me they proved that they can make somewhat a different kind of style record with DBTT 'not that massive guitar sound and stadium proov tunes' For the DBTT there are just a few bootlegs that i think liam sounded horrible, but hey doesn't anyone have a bad day. Watch the Boston 05 HDTV performance and u can't ignore the fact that oasis is still one of the best bands around the planet

Anyway, Boston 05 was in June 2005 the very beginning of the tour. After August 2005 in almost all gigs Liam sounds horrible, HORRIBLE...and the tour continued till march 2006 or sth like that. Liam can keep a reasonable voice in the first few gigs, then his voice just...dies. DBTT was a very good album, the DBTT tour was total crap (except the first few gigs). That's why I said they should do shorter tours with more days in between the gigs. Oasis is the best band on the planet, but only in albums, not the live gigs (anymore).

I saw Oasis in September of '05 in Atlanta, and Liam sounded great. Now here's the thing:
The concert scheduled 2 or 3 days before was supposed to be in Houston, but it was cancelled b/c of Hurricane Rita. There was like a 4-5 break from the show (not sure where it was) before Atlanta.
It's not logical to have such long breaks but it sure helped Liams voice.
Once again, he just needs to sing the songs and let the amps carry his voice. No more straining and shouting.
Look back at very early gigs 94-95, he doesn't even do his bent body pose as he does now. Check out Glasto '94 or Chicago Metro '94.

First: those critics are absolutely ridiculous. The guy in the article mentions also U2 and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I mean, whats next?? Coldplay, Foo Fighters, and every band that doesn't make as much sucess as they first appeared? Pure crap. A say that Oasis are loved by hundreds? Do a little research before writing all those craps. Oasis sell millions of copies of their albuns and all their gigs are sell out. Just pathetic, the guy doesn't like the ok, but at least he could try to use decent arguments...
Second: About Liam's voice, I agree, it's getting worse and worse, but he sounds great at studio. I went to see them in March 2006, and his voice was fuckin' ruined. Luckely, the guitars still made the night spetacular. But the thing is that i don't believe is the end. it maight be, but Liam should take care of his voice, that's it. He always smoking like hell, and drinking all he can, and even a monkey know what that does to your throat. he just doesn't seem to concern about it cos' he thinks he's the best vocal ever, and the fans will always love him. If Our Kid had some good sense he could still pull the job.
