Yah, Noel was in his house on Saturday night talking with Russell on Radio 2... There was no mention of an album... But then again, all they did was joke around and talk complete nonsence.

don't go away is a cheesy song. The lyrics and vibe are so cheesy. I can't even stand it. It's noel trying to write good music and not just writing it. Part of the Queue is just damn fine songwriting. Like McCartney doing Dylan. Keep the Dream Alive is cheesy as fuck too. If there was one thing I wish its that Noel wouldnt get so lazy about writing music and try to challenge himself. When Noel's good, he's fucking excellent. But after definitely maybe he did get too poppy in areas. Some ways it was brilliant like Lennon and McCartney did. But other times it was just unoriginal. I think his songs were the best on dbtt that he sang. idle, queue. fingers. he tends to sing his best songs on the record. Which is good. I like his songwriting personality. I honestly wish Noel would go solo. Oasis is pretty much his backing band in my opinion. I don't really care for Bell or Archer's work. Or Liam's for that. They're all okay in areas, but Noel writes the real tunes. There is no real partnership. I like songs like Half the World Away. Of course I also do like Listen Up and headshrinker and other Noel songs. I like Fade In Out. I like Gas Panic. But After SOTSOG I think most of the noel written liam sung songs started to lack. liam had an odd good tune (boadc) andy and gem had some pretty alright ones. Noel wrote garbage for liam to sing. The problem with Oasis now is this: On a rocking song, There's no lead guitar. The rockin songs that he writes for liam to sing aren't that great. Fuck Lyla. That's my honest opnion. I like guitar solos. Louder production. Better vocals (liam!) The rockin songs that Andy and Gem write for Liam to sing are similar to Noel's for liam. Turn Up The Sun is good not great. Noel's songs with really introspective storytelling style lyrics (idle, queue) are the best when he sings them. Liam can't pull it off as well. He's the only genius in the band. Oasis is a replaceable band apart from Liam. But I don't really think Liam's singing is that good these days. On the album it sounds so manufactured where it sounds the same on every track. The last Liam singing track I really like a lot is boadc. I do have a thing for eyeball tickler i suppose, as well as some liam b-sides that sound like unpolished john lennon which i dig a little bit. i'm rambling i also wish oasis would get a bit heavier and do more headshrinker type songs. The "Rock" now is much ligher and less edgy.

The "Rock" now is much ligher and less edgy. I know what you mean about Don't Go Away and Keep The Dream Alive, Mr Weller...although I love Don't Go Away, but Keep The Dream Alive is probably my most less-favourite song from DBTT. It's a good song, but the lyrics are something too pink, too kind, too tender for me (don't hit me peple please). The Part Of Queue is my most favourite DBTT song. Noel is the brain of Oasis and he's a great songwriter. Everyone knows Oasis wouldn't have been there without him, but Oasis aren't Noel Gallager Group or Noel Gallagher band. Without Liam, Bonehead and Guigsy there would have been no Oasis and without Liam, Andy and Gem there would been no Oasis at all. Noel made and makes a birth of loads of great tunes and Liam gave and gives them a breath to live. and Andy and Gem are very talented musicians. You should have a listen of (especially) Hurricane #1, Mr Weller. then you'll know what I'm saying.

as much as i love noel i'm afraid that if he goes solo he might get into boooooooooooring songs he's just gonna be a solo songwriter singing his songs... no more rock, no more fun a couple of "noel's songs" (noel ballads) are fine on an oasis album but an album filled with that would be boring i love oasis, they're able to go on the pop side and the rock side very well unlike other bands who are just noisy rock or some bands who are boring pop i love part of the queue, it's prob one of the best songs of DBTT BUT for a good rocker you cant beat liam since when noel has been good in the rockers? DBTT scared me cos it seems oasis are going the "noel" way alot no real rocker, a lot of acoustic guitar... i fell in love with oasis with BHN and my fave album is DM so you certainly see what i dont like in DBTT and what i mean with this post
as for liam, BOADC was really a good song IMO much better than many of noel however i doubt he'll ever make great songs like noel but noel is getting old and it shows in his music

Wow, there's no love for Meaning of Soul on these boards, eh? Well to me that was the one song that gave DBTT what Oasis has been missing for a while, the attitude that they brought with songs like Cigs & Alcohol, Columbia, Headshrinker, and others. At least that's how it sounds to me live, the album version is too acoustic. Sure its not a great song, but I enjoy listening to it for some reason. You can instantly tell it's something Liam would write or say, and I think Oasis needs that variety.
I really want just a full on rock and roll album from them this time, DBTT didn't have enough of that, and I think they've been missing that for too long. I really do hope they make it huge, not BHN huge, but bigger than what they've been doing.

I want ROCK AND ROLL Songs... Noel... If you're reading this (LOL ;D).. I challenge you to record this new album and not include ONE acoustic guitar track... I think the full on stompers are gonna come from Liam (and maybe Gem) from now on. I think the problem with some of the Liam tunes are that Noel won't step in and 'pollish' them to what they really could be... JMO

Meaning of Soul is Barely a song. It's two chords for a minute and a half.
I've heard Bell and Archer's solo work. They have some interesting guitar work, but they're nothing mind blowing.
While they are better instrumentalists, Noel is the better songwriter.
I don't think Oasis can rock all that well anymore. When they do it always sounds the same. I like the Noel tunes.
Yeah, Liam had the voice that attracted tons. Bonehead and Guigsy didn't contribute anything though.
If anything, Oasis was the raw material Noel had to work with. They were the clay. The musicians were quite limited so he had to do something simple but brilliant and he did. Only Noel G could turn a band with bonehead and guigsy and tony mccarol into a genuinely great band.
Liam had his voice. Not anymore unfortunetely.

I don't want to see Noel go solo if it means he would quit the band. If he does a side project then that's ok, but I'm not sure it would go down well with Liam. Also I agree with one of the above posters that a Noel solo album might get a bit boring.
I don't get why songs like Idle, and Mucky Fingers get so much love. They are good songs in their own right. I understand they might sound like other artists, sound like Dylan, or whoever, but I don't want them to sound like Dylan because I want them to sound like Oasis (yeah I know Oasis aren't exactly 'original sounding' but you get my point).
Meaning of Soul was more of a b-side IMO. Keep the Dream Alive was a bit too pop sounding but I like that.
And I do believe the band can still make music how they did in the past. I think after Be Here Now, Noel just became so worried about making good music (that critics would like) that he forgot about what made them so popular in the first place.

I guess I'm the only one that liked DBTT's vibe? It was laid back, it was softer, it was more psychedelic. It gives me the same vibes of albums like Rubber Soul. It really focuses on detail. The keyboard in TIOBI. The intro and outro of Turn Up The Sun. The drums and bongos in PotQ. It's more atmospheric, in the same vein as Go Let It Out (which is another one of my all time favorites). I'd love to see tunes that combine those two things. Not full on rockers like Bring It On Down and not softer like Who Feels Love. Songs that pay as much attention to detail as they do at pounding away. Good examples? Shakermaker, Supersonic, Slide Away, Morning Glory, DYKWIM?, Some Might Say, Acquiesce. Bad examples? My Big Mouth, Bring It On Down, Better Man. Maybe some ballads as well? Let There Be Love, while good, really is one of Noel's worse ballads to me. The way Noel spoke about it feels like he just wanted to get it out, I thin k that's obvious by the amount of times the full band have played it live. (Mmmmm, never? ) Start bringing the huge ballads like Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Stand By Me again, especially ones liek Stand By Me! Everything meshes so perfectly in that song.

DBTT is actually the only Oasis record that I don't think has even the smallest psychedelic vibe. DM and WTSMG had a few mixed in here and there, BHN was pretty psychedelic with all the weird feedback, SOTSOG obviously was, and HC had The Cage, BOADC, AQP, even the versus in Little By Little were kinda Floydish. Now that I think about it, that might be why I actually like DBTT the least of all their records. I'm looking foward to this "colossal" sound Noel is putting together. I miss the orchestras and all that mumbo jumbo...Think how much worse songs like The Masterplan, Going Nowhere, All Around the World would be if they just stuck to the basic drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards. That's also why I really enjoy SOTSOG (although I know I'm in the minority) I thought the whole electronica thing was kinda cool. The first minute of Gas Panic is an acoustic guitar, electronic drum loop, synthesizers and a mellotron...and I thought it was an awesome change. Then again some of you might've just read I'm not a fan of DBTT and ignored the rest of my post

Oasis for the most part is not psychedelic at all. There are some small influences, but they're mostly straight rock

Dunno, that's what I felt. That whole 60s vibe, but whatever.
I don't see how DM, (WTS)MG?, or BHN were very psychadelic though. DM had Shakermaker and maybe Up In The Sky. Morning Glory had Champagne Supernova and Be Here Now had DYKWIM? and Magic Pie, maybe Be Here Now, though the last would be a stretch.

I didn't say DM and WTSMG were very psychedelic, I said they have a few psychedelic songs...or atleast moments. And if you'd like me to go through my list I will: DM: Shakermaker, Up In the Sky, Columbia is kinda psychedelic (the beginning, the background voice in the chorus, etc..) WTSMG: obviously Champagne Supernova, MG starts off and ends very psychdelic, there's also pretty some pretty psychedelic B-sides like The Masterplan BHN: DYKWIM, the first half of Fade In-Out is pretty psychedelic, Magic Pie, plus virtually every song on that album has some sort of crazy weird feedback somewhere in it which is actually why so many people dislike it.

Except for the solo, I don't see how The Masterplan is psychedelic. I don't see how Morning Glory or the majority of Be Here Now are psychedelic either just because they use feedback or some type of sound effect that only last for a few seconds throughout the entire song. It's psychedelic influences, but that doesn't make the songs psychedelic throughout.
Anyway, that just my view on the matter.
