MAROON 5 frontman ADAM LEVINE was flattered to be on the receiving end of British rockers OASIS' derisory comments - as the bad words raised the band's profile in the U.K.
Outspoken Oasis star Noel Gallagher took offence at having to share the stage with the American group at English festival V in August 2005, saying, "If we had a hand in picking the bill, Maroon 5 wouldn't be on it." But the This Love singer has thanked Gallagher for criticising the band, as he believes his comments have helped make Maroon 5 more popular.
He says, "You go to England and it's different - depending on who's after you there.
"Oasis said some things about us but the most flattering thing you can get being an American band coming to England, is something from Oasis, so thank you, Noel, for hating me, you've validated my existence."

Maroon 5 are the worst. And I hate the fact that they've covered Hello and Don't Look Back in Anger.

I cant get that they think Oasis is their influence for music. Even though they have a good taste, they aren't a good band.

i agree, if it wasn't for oasis, i'd probably be listening to gangsta rap lol... everytime i think a new band will step up and take over a bit, they fall flat..... what the fuck happened to the strokes? and what about jet? i thought jet were gonna be mega... apparantly not.

I had a discussion with a friend of mine about when you get into new artisits. And I don't think I'm ever going to get into one again the same way as Oasis. They are just fucking everything. Attitude, music, image, longevity.... whatever. As you said, most upcoming groups simply disappoint. It's really ridiculous because there are so few of them anyway. When you turn on the radio all you hear is garbage. But there is hope: independent music. That stuff will always be pure and full of musicians with drive who aren't just going to fall down like a card house. I'm part of my indie scene and I love it because the bands are talented, have the right attitude, a good balance of image, and are likely to stay around for a while. That's my input |

i dont know why everyone has so much vitriol towards Maroon 5. They're just a pop band. I dont personally like them but i have no reason to hate them. what the singer said is true. it should be sort of an honor to be in the exclusive group of bands insulted by Noel.
And you have to admit that his reaction is better than most other shite bands like fucking Bloc Party.

No kidding, I am with iiclisoy and ross on this. It's not like the band is being fake and acting/singing about something they are not. They sing songs about girls, sex, breakups, and everything else pop bands sing about. They don't claim to be a branch on the Oasis tree so-to-speak. Them covering DLBIA and [especially] Hello is a tell that they obviously like Oasis, and good for them, but they aren't claiming to follow in their lead... so piss off about them already, if they aren't of any importance to you then act like it and talk about someone else.
