Noel Gallagher: 'solo album is coming' The Oasis man tells NME about all his recording plans 4 hours ago
Oasis mainman Noel Gallagher has confirmed that he already has song earmarked for a solo album.
Speaking in the new issue of NME, Gallagher said that following his recent solo concert appearances he was making tentative steps towards a solo project.
He said: "I've actually got a backlog of songs that are slowly building up. The thing about a solo record is the time to do one is between Oasis world tours because you'd have a good couple of years.
"But it takes me so long to write the songs that eventually I run out of time (before Oasis begins again), but I've got a backlog now of about four or five songs which are probably too far in the past as far as the band in concerned, but which could work on my record... it's coming."
Gallagher also said that Oasis have already written most of the follow up to 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth'.
He explained: "The next one in theory is already fucking written. I've got eight songs that I'm pretty happy with. I think Liam's got one or two that he thinks are brilliant. We're waiting for Gem and Andy. It's just a case of sitting down and saying, 'When do we want to do this?'"

ok so we could have a Noel solo album in about 13 more years..... just enough time for him to write 4 or 5 new songs that would fit in.... typical NME

Every year I read about Noel planning a solo album.
I think it won't happen, probably he is playing with Liam's mind again...

He's been talking about a solo album for ten years now. I suspect he'll be doing the same for another ten years.

As long as they crack on with the Oasis album and then they can start touring again - yey!

I think it's pretty simple...Oasis NEEDS Noel, Noel doesn't NEED Oasis. If he were to go solo, no doubt I would be upset but it's not as if Oasis' music would completely end. After all, Noel is basically responsible for every great Oasis song. After 1997, I think it became about overcoming Liam's voice. Liam can't sing so many great songs like Slide Away and She's Electric anymore thanks to his voice now. Believe me, I love Liam just as much as the next Oasis fan, but the only thing he still has going for him his swagger. If Noel had an entire album of songs where he wouldn't have to worry about what Liam can and cannot sing, I think it would be better than any Oasis album since WTSMG

I think I'm all for Noel going solo, as long as he tours, and still does oasis stuff. Liam has lost his voice (however, I think he could get it back if he got voice lessons, but I think he is too stubborn).

i dunno. you lose something when going solo.
Ian Brown is not as good as the Stone Roses Paul Weller is not as good as The Jam
i'm sure Noel would be fantastic. he has an amazing voice and he writes great lyrics, but he'll never better what he has done, and will continue to do, with Oasis.

yeah.
but like noel has done his solo thing within oasis with tracks that liam or the rest of the band pretty much had no input on
