The former Blur singer - who has been feuding with brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher since the Blur versus Oasis Britpop chart battle of the mid-90s - says it was "unnecessary" for Oasis to accept the Outstanding Contribution To Music award and perform at last month's ceremony.
Damon told Britain's NME magazine: "The BRITs is like the shopping channel for famous people. I don't really understand why Noel and Liam did the awards, it didn't seem necessary. Their contribution is obvious.
"They're certainly better than Sting, so why put yourself in a position when you're putting yourself into a linage following him? I don't understand it."
Noel - who said he hoped Damon would "catch AIDS and die" at the height of their feud - recently said he liked Damon's new band The Good, The Bad and The Queen.
However, Damon insists he will never be friends with the Oasis guitarist.
He said: "I can't make it up with Noel. Britpop would be over and heaven forbid that we'd ever admit we'd all grown up! Britpop still reigns supreme over Britain as a musical force and will do until Blur and Oasis split."

Is that really a "slam"? It's not like he said they suck, he was just pointing out that their contribution to the music world doesn't have to be validated by an award show that's not the most credible with people in the music world. I'm sure a lot of people will get upset because after all, it's Damon saying SOMETHING about Oasis, and I would normally be with you, but this doesn't seem that bad to me. Although I long for the "get aids and die" days...those were such good times, and we'll probably never get them back. My brain almost can't process hearing Noel say he likes one of Damon's bands!

Yeah, I don't consider this a slam either. Just Damon saying their contribution is obvious in the music scene so picking up an award for that isn't necessary (Just as Oasis didn't really want to do it either because its not their thing). I think the headline is just meant to respark some Oasis/Blur feud which won't be happening.

Blah, blah, more tabloid shit stirring bullshit! I was sick to death of it the first time round. I like Oasis and Blur and no twat from the Sun or wherever is going to make me hate one of them!
