I think the reason his voice is deteriorating is the smoking. Yeah I know other people smoke and never have a problem with their voice.. But some people do wind up getting affected by it.
But I don't think it's permanent. He needs to quit, and get a vocal scraping (I remember hearing about Liam planning on getting it done.. But it doesn't seem like he did).
I also think Liam tries to sing like he used to. Loud, shouting almost. That totally worked back when his voice was better, but now it's just a bad idea.. That's why he's still able to maintain a great voice in album production, as well as that acoustic performance in '05. But if things continue the way they are, he won't even be able to sound good enough for future albums.

thats a bang on comment, hes still singing like he did years ago in a loud way but with the new stance hes just just takin strain of his actual throat and not off his voice, hes still got the old voice cos weve heard it ,its just now when he screams theres a gravel sond to it,hes still in tune but it just sounds like hes tryin to hard at times to keep everything right,he used to sing so freely and now hes pushing his voice,i just think hes changed his style.people are starting to notice now in the public eye though which he will be takin notice of

The sad thing is they both probably know that Liam's voice is getting more fucked by the year, but if he has already been to vocal coaches etc. and that stuff hasn't helped then what more can be done?
The other sad thing, even though I agree with whoever said above that Liam is insecure about it, he will never admit that his singing has gotten worse and he needs to do something drastic to fix it. I hope he does, cos it's a tragedy how downhill it has gone.

Well two things you need to remember when readin that.
1 - Noel and Liam are always having a pop at each other but its never serious, its just brothers having family rows.
2 - The Sun is an unreliable piece of shit which loves to sensationalise at every oportunity to sell papers.

I think Noel is admitting it now and being harsh, because more money in the new deal if liam's voice improves.

I think the tours they did took a bit to much... it's very stressfull for the voice of liam to sing day after day for a fucking long time like he used to back in the old days.

End it now ... Liam can still sing, he has proved that in various live performances such as City Of Manchester and V Festival .... I KNOW the problem is that he cant shout whilst singing like he used to, everyone sounds shit when they shout and sing, Liam was just a rare case that it worked in favour for back in the mid 90's. I KNOW the problem lies within him shouting and not actually singing, why this is, no one knows, but yeah i would agree, Oasis sound tech guys absolutely suck at their job, I mean Liams constantly sayin "turn it up" halfway through singing something so the problem does lie within him not hearing enough of himself, thats why he tries to shout over all of the noise from the guitars etc etc...

As its the sun, its bound to be overexaggerated or just downright false or twisted. Even if it is true, Liam doing something in the best interest of the band?! Yeah right. He's too far gone to repair.

The reason his voice is now like kermit is because he had his teeth knocked out thats the reason they know longer sing alot of songs live because his voice isnt up to them anymore we need him to sort out his voice.
imagine if noel kicked him out and got richard ashcroft or ian brown as the new front man lol

'Remember when you were young...' Liam's voice was amazing!!! Liam's voice was too infant'ish back then. The MG/BHN era was his finest hour.

I agree with Crunch, the MG/BHN era was fantasitc, although towards the end of the BHN tour you could hear of what's to come. I think I have a different interpretation of why Liam sings the way he does now --I think it's awesome when he doesn't sing, or can't be assd about singing like on the 2nd night of wembley, if you're not down with who I am, and then he doesn't even sing the rest, he doesn't have to. I like the shouting actually in most recent gigs, because it's like he's fighting with the songs, but it does go overboard sometimes. I think his voice sounds cool when it's all fucked up and rough, but I would like to hear him sing some more sensitive stuff once and a while (maybe acoustic again?) on a tune like don't go away or something like that. I think around the BHN era he had the perfect combination of a rough bad-ass cigarettes-and-alcohol voice, but he could still sing tunes like don't go away or fade-in-out really convincingly, I wish they would at least try some of those songs...it's weird cause I don't think noel's voice has changed very much from cigs and alc, infact I think it's gotten better,.

Liam's voice sounded worse than some of the early 05 tour shows, but better than most of the tour. It sounded way better than anything from 02-04. I think he knows his voice isn't the same, but I think it's getting better. Rock N Roll star was almost a perfect vocal IMO, he sang it rough, with energy, and stayed in tune pretty well. Cigarettes and Alcohol was abit rough at points, same with MG, but at others it sounded better than it had been since the 2000 era. We're all going to have to except the youthful cleanliness of his voice went away around 2000, and that he's voice is going to be more rough like on the HC and DBTT albums. Personally I love that voice live, it's only a matter of being able to have that voice, and a good shouting voice too.
