Oasis have discussed the progress on their new album in this week's issue of NME. The band, who grace three limited edition covers of the Special Oasis Tribute Issue edition of NME , said they are taking tentative steps towards planning the follow up to 2005's 'Don't Believe The Truth'. Noel Gallagher said: "Our producer Dave Sardy is coming over for the BRITS so I guess we'll have a chat and kick around some ideas. I've got eight songs that I'm pretty happy with. "Liam has got one of two that he thinks are brilliant. I fancy doing something more elaborate with this one. It's about time." www.nme.com/news/oasis/26413

Lets hope they go for it on this album. The last few albums have been OK but a bit restrained in my opinion. I would love them to make the next album with a view to playing the biggest stadiums out there

I'm expecting Noel to say it's gonna be their best album since DM, as usual ;D

Lets hope they go for it on this album. The last few albums have been OK but a bit restrained in my opinion. I would love them to make the next album with a view to playing the biggest stadiums out there Have to say I think the exact opposite. I said when Noel talked about the album a few weeks ago that I don't believe anything he says between albums anyway, but IF they do end up going for something 'grander' than DBTT I hope it's because they have the songs for it. I don't want any record made with 'a view' to doing anything. They already have enough songs that fill stadiums, and as a live band they usually make every song fit the big arenas anyway. If they start trying to force whatever songs they have in to a blueprint for the record when they don't suit it, it'll almost certainly turn in to a right mess. What I love about DBTT is it's relaxed feel, and the production is spot on, the songs were treated just right and it worked. I'm always worried when any band talk about an idea for a record instead of letting the songs dictate it, especially when Oasis have messed us previous records doing as much.

well if it turns out to be a mess in the same way that BHN is a mess I'll love it!!!
it's good to know they'll continue to work with Sardy and that they are thinking of getting into the studio some time this year. I was starting to think they were taking another year off
