I know this isn't news to most of you, but they mentioned on Discover and Download that they were honoured to be compared to Oasis and that Oasis are their heroes.

I was sick of them from day one. I read their first NME int. and.....THEY SUCKED. Saw their 1st L.A. gig and.....THEY SUCKED. They're the "flavor of the month" gone by their 3rd album. "Polytechnic" one anyone? Theres a band, a mighty Manchesta band at that. Go to their Myspace and trip on the "pep demo"

Subways r a far better band. More Rock N Roll. TO ME, Arctic chimps are too studen rock. And too british. Bad if they wanna break America but, otherwise a good thing for the rest of world, I rekon. Go trip on Polytechnic

Some people are just too old for the Arctic Monkeys. They don't deserve to get the label 'student rock' or 'chimps'. Monkeys have more energy than any band from the past decade. But let's wait for the second album. I can't wait.

They sound nothing like Oasis though, and they don't deserve to be compared to Them.

Just because you're inspired by someone doesn't mean that you have to sound like them. It just means that they're the ones who got you into music and made you want to make it. I mean there are a lot of rap artists, as much as they suck, who attribute their influences back the the Beatles.

Monkeys have more energy than any band from the past decade. Alex needs to work on his stage persona coz honestly, it sux. He doesn't exude rockstar royalty (i.e, Liam, Jagger etc). On the CD, they sound like a pretty tight up and coming band. Just cant say the same about em onstage though.

Well he's just a kid and if he isn't a rockstar he don't have to act like one, it's about being real. Arctic Monkeys are real as fuck, they are ordinary guys (on stage) writing songs about daily stuff, playing with their instrument like they are toys. They variete a lot it's just great music... I never experienced the upcoming of Oasis (though I bought the albums at that time) because I was just a kid. But I do feel that the situations are quite alike, with the pressure on for the Arctic Monkeys. I'm very curious of how the next album would sound like.

Sure, both first albums are great BUT there's a HUGE difference between Liam's effortless cool compared to Alex' awkwardness.

arctic moneys dont get much exposure where i live in australia, and i think its good cos i dont like bands with too much hype. oasis isnt well known where i live either but i love em!! ive only heard 4 artic monkey tunes and i like em, their accents are really distinctive which i like cos im not used to hearing it.

Liams a natural rock star, Alex, just dont got it and it will cost them in 3yrs time.

what are some of you people even comparing DM and Oasis with the Artic Monkeys record for? DM was released in 1994, it's now 2006 incase you hadnt noticed. I'm willing to bet that if DM came along now, it would be panned. It was right for its time and is a classic record, but it's 2006 now and whether you like them or not, Artic Monkeys are the here and now.
