Oasis have snubbed Live 8 after originally saying they would appear.
The band had told Sir Bob Geldof they wanted to be part of the line-up and would perform at the Hyde Park concert.
But they later said they were too busy because they had to play their home town of Manchester on the same night as part of their world tour.
Other acts are still managing to perform on the day and fulfil previous engagements, however. U2 will fly to a gig in Vienna - 500 miles further away from Hyde Park than Manchester - after the show.
Because of council regulations the event, which replaces the annual Princes Trust concert, will have to finish at 8pm. A show insider said: 'Oasis were one of the first bands Bob called because they were one of the seminal groups of the last decade.
'They said they were going to do it and seemed really excited about it.
'But then they said they could not do it, and their name had to be taken off the line-up at the last minute. Bob was particularly upset as he spoke to the band himself.'
A spokesman for Oasis would not comment

Yeah. It'll be.
I remember Dire Straits who where having a gig in London around the time of the first Live Aid. They went to Live Aid in the afternoon, playing 2 songs, getting back to their own place where they had to do a gig and played that gig.
See no reason why Oasis can't do that two. Playing 2 songs, getting on a plane and play the concert in Manchester.

It's too bad they couldn't set it up so they would play in Philly for L8.
Talk about exposure and press, could've really helped the boys in the U.S.
Especially considering the dog doo-doo that they have shceduled for that show.....fucking WILL SMITH? r u fucking kidding me?

i for one am glad they snubbed that twat geldof
hes another fuckin bono ,if it wasny for his live aid crap he would still be under a rock somewhere..OASIS are not about feeding the hungry ..as good of a cause it may be it aint OASIS leave that to coldplay u2 sting macca.....they play that political game .OASIS are a rock band and i am glad they are not takin part in this warmed over bullshit...jmo

It's about africa and stopping little children dying every 3 seconds and oasis are incredibly mean for that. its not that there mean its not there thing ,there are enough big names to attract attention with martin luther bono and martin luther martin...the event would not draw any more publicity with OASIS its gonna be so exposed anyway...yes i believe in the cause i donated money to starving kids but i think OASIS are right they are not a political band ...jmo |

well i didnt no about geldof and what happened with michael hutchence, im sure hes not proud of it at any rate and i dont think he would have thought it wud have led to that, but thats that its in the past and hes now trying to do something good, so i still dont think he deserves to be called a twat
as for living of live aid, i dont think u can blame gledof if hes remembered for live aid
