So far all I'd heard from the new album was Lyla. But today I gave in and listened to all of it on the NME.COM Oasis "listening post" and all I can say is holy fucking shit man, Let there be love is just the best thing I've heard in years. I've only listened to it once and I think it is already the most I've been filled with emotion from an Oasis song since the day I bought Be Here Now (which is my favourite Oasis album, different issue...)

I think if they released it as a single around Christmas time it would be a huge hit here in the UK. Their best selling one since Go Let it Out I reckon, big stocking filler!

Bare in mind I've only listened to each song once (and not all the way through in most cases). But so far I'd give it about 8/10. And say its better than HC, about as good as SOTSOG, but not as good as the first three albums. That isn't an insult though, because I don't think anyone has matched those first three albums, and you can't expect bands to keep bettering their best work over and over.
Just for the record, IMO - DM 9/10, MG 10/10, BHN 10/10, SOTSOG 8/10, HC 7/10, DBTT 8/10. Just opinions so please don't start ranting about how shit BHN is!!

Loads of people seem to hate BHN. And NME originally gave it 9/10 and yet in this weeks review of DBTT they gave BHN 6/10. Reactionist vaginas!

People always complain about the length of BHN, personally I thought it was perfect. I'd love to see Oasis do another album full of epic long songs. In my opinion All Around the World, Its Getting Better Man, D'you Know What I Mean and Fade In-Out are some of their best work, and Champagne Supernova is my fave on MG! I love Oasis' long songs. Even on DM they had long instrumental outro's like on bring it on down and columbia. They don't have enough long instrumental sections on their recent work is my only complaint to be honest. But I understand they can't do the same style of songs over and over, they are still my fave band.

I've been listening more while writing the above and I think every track is growing on me. I'm starting to think it is better than SOTSOG, still not as good as the first three, but I do think LTBL is among the best 5 Oasis songs ever. And when/if its released as a single I think it'll be their biggest hit in years. And even though I loved the original SOTSOG demo of it, man, its SUCH an improvement!

And those NME vaginas slagged LTBL off because it was left over from SOTSOG. But they've made such improvements to it....Stupid NME vaginas!

i just don't know why i can't get blown away by let there be love. i think its because everytime i listen to it, i can't stop thinking about how much better champagne supernova is....especially when i start considering how they both close the albums.
i honestly think champagne supernova is truly, truly one of the greatest 7 and a half minutes ever composed. magnificent.
thats a lot of hype.

Well Champagne Supernova is probably my fave Oasis song. But I definitely think LTBL is the best thing they've recorded since BHN, over taking Gas Panic in that respect for me.

I'm really liking part of the queue, importance of being idle, mucky fingers, keep the dream alive and let there be love the most I think. I think I'd actually give the album about 9/10 after more listening now! So many great songs on it!

Just opinions so please don't start ranting about how shit BHN is!! I love BHN. Who doesn't except for globe and Noel himself? ;D Thats because me and Noel both have great taste. I dont hate BHN, I just dont understand how anyone can rate it as the bands best album. Its their worst piece of work by a mile. C'mon, admit it. How anybody can think its a better album than DM is beyond me. Maybe its because I've been following the band since 94 and DM means so much to me, not just musically, but on a personal level, and BHN was such a let down when it was released I dunno, but I think you are crazy if you think BHN is Oasis' best album. Bloated production, overlong, no bass, 1000000000 guitar parts in each song. Dont think I have listened to BHN for about 5 years.
