Yeah well, let's not make TOO much of a point out of that - the Chief and his bro have been known to turn out some absolutely shocking lyrics in the past.  "I can see a liar / Sitting by the fire" "Sing a song for me / One from Let It Be"; and lest we forget: "Live for your toys / Even though they make noise" Oasis still piss over U2, though. ;D Oh no.. don't put BHN on this. U2 are one of the most boring and overrated bands imo. With all due respect, I don't think I will never laugh as much as I did when I read your opinion on U2. Boring? Do you know any of their early stuff? Do you know how much punk influenced their earlier stuff? Do you know how bloody exciting Achtung baby is? Overrated? For successfully changing their style numerous times (punk, rock, techno, pop, etc)? For lasting for more than 3 decades and being on top of the world at the END of their career? For sticking together for more than 3 decades with all original members? For influencing thousands and thousands of bands in the world? For writing meaningful and relevant music? Too popular, maybe. Overrated? Nope... |

U2 haven't released a good lp in over a decade in my opinion. I really think it's time they should stop making records. I think they should just focus on touring. Essentially, fans just wanna hear the old stuff anyway.

I can't really choose between one or the other. I've got most of U2's singles from Joshua Tree and all of their albums and all of Oasis' singles and albums. However, if you are using the argument that U2 hasn't put out a good album in ten years...well, some people might say the same thing about Oasis.

lets put it this way u2 are legends the fact they are irish will make them always more popular here as there is a love of the irish in the usa thats crazy st paddys parade is the largest parade there is..as for the music u2 made some mega stuff early on some good stuff later on
but if you had to choose between the best of u2 or the best of oasis songwise i think oasis wins easy
u2 made some good ones but nuthin touched me like oasis best stuff

yeah lets just say that although u2 are a good band, oasis are untouchable...every band always puts out a shitty lp in their carreer (zep-in through the out door anyone) except the beatles. But yes aside from a few songs i think AYCLB was generally a shitty lp

u2 are the biggest band in the world.
they are very good in big venues and have destroyed what punk rock was about.
to me, they have done more damage to rock n roll than any band on the face of this planet including coldplay!
they have some great songs but the clash were way much better than they could ever hope to have been and bono knows that anyway.

Oasis are definitely the better band. Always have been, always will be. Bono is starting to really annoy me. He's all about reducing third world debt, which is great, but he hasn't contributed any of his own money toward any of the causes he's an advocate for. But he will spend $2000 to fly his hat first class from the UK to Italy.

I agree there music is slipping, they're not putting out Achtung baby's or Joshua Tree's anymore, which are classic albums, but I don't think Oasis (and I love this band more than any other) are putting out DM or MG's. oasis is better because of noel. the edge isnt that great of a guitarist and noel does what bono and edge do himself.

Bono is the most hypocrite person on the whole planet.
First of all he shouts about fairtrade and money for Africa and all that.
As far as I know their tickets are the most expensive and U2 are the rockers that are mostly involved with aristocrats, royalties.
Bono could be even the royal hairdresser for the king or queen of a few countries.
He also admires the pope, which is very conservativ and responsable for ruining many lives (think about aids in africa, indoctrination, emancipation of woman and the gaycommunity).
He is everything 'but' rock n' roll , more a cheap jetset groupie.
Though the made some great sonhs I agree.

U2 are mega imo, get soulseek and download them at slane, the GO HOME gig its fckin top, im not such a big fan of there actual recordings more their live stuff, i think people should judge on music and not the people themselves imo

I'd watch where I step with that kind of stuff, man...Noel has admitted he's not a fantastic guitarist and the Edge can't sing or write Noel songs, but he's a MEGA guitarist...his solos are powerful I'm a U2 fan as well...I'm not sure why everyone hates them so much here, they are very similiar to Oasis, a band of the people, just for ireland...bono is Liam with more concern for the world and more chest hair |
