My friend i have have been debating for years over whose more popular-Oasis or U2 I say Oasis, he says U2 I'm from England, but living in the U.S, hes lived in the U.S all his life.... anyone want to help me bring him down to reality that U2 are now past it (its not the 80s anymore), and if it wasnt for those annoying punk bands like Greenday and all the rap over here, surely Oasis would be massive in the U.S Oasis is as rock n roll as they come, and i love them for that. They dont want that hollywood image, and thats very chilled. This album is going to be amazing, my friend is even contemplating buying it when its released, however he didnt like KTDA and thought LTBL was just ok  don't know what he's thinking. (didnt dl the rest cos i want the suprise of hearing it off of the album on may 31), hopefully this album will convert him and be able to convince him that Wonderwall, DLBIA, and Champagne Supernova arnt their only good songs. And as im writing this i have realized that theres really no point and that im just ramlbing, but so be it  |

U2 is the most popular band. Oasis is the best band. agreed though in britain i think its a draw but everywhere else bonos preachin has made the legends >:(plus they got 10 years of bein known more than OASIS |

i think back at the end of 96 they were bout the biggest thing in the country by a mile...and should have gone on to vbe the biggest thing globally.
However things tuck a bit of a nose dive after that as far as the media/popularity went
U2 have the biggest global appeal, although Oasis are quite clearly the better band

If Oasis hadn't George Best'ed it with Be Here Now (and then had 3 years between records) then they would be the biggest . As it is they are the better band (better songs - aside from 'One' U2 are well overrated), but they can't approach U2 in terms of global popularity.

U2 = More experimental rock pop band with different styles, especially early 90's (they play the game)
Bono is in love with himself and that does get annoying, but you have to give him credit for sticking with his "save the world" campaigns. The guy is for real.

I agree there music is slipping, they're not putting out Achtung baby's or Joshua Tree's anymore, which are classic albums, but I don't think Oasis (and I love this band more than any other) are putting out DM or MG's.
Bono does have quite a fucking ego, but regardless of his motivations for his "save the world" he is doing it and not many others with his influence.

if bono wants to save something,why doesnt he use some of his estimated £100 million fortune,instead of fuckin preaching to others about it.
u2 are a great band and bono a great singer and frontman,but when it comes to world affairs he is a prick

well since im going to u2 tomorrow I can't be too hard on them haha...but definatly oasisis the far better band... Dom's right though, U2 are amazing live so im still excited

Oasis and U2 are 1 and 2 in my all time favourite band list. I'm personlly far more intrigued and connected to Oasis music. But U2 are far more popular, and have promoted themselves better. Oasis are true to themselves which is great, but it has affected them being a massive mainstream band. The fighting and cancelled tours have set them back.

Yeah well, let's not make TOO much of a point out of that - the Chief and his bro have been known to turn out some absolutely shocking lyrics in the past.  "I can see a liar / Sitting by the fire" "Sing a song for me / One from Let It Be"; and lest we forget: "Live for your toys / Even though they make noise" Oasis still piss over U2, though. ;D |
