Does anyone else think Liam's slowly becoming the premier songwriter in oasis? After hearing the track clips it got me thinking this even more, also the fact that every one in the band(and producer) said how much work he now puts into his music and songwriting(Andy also said when he heard Love like a bomb he instantly thought single) I've also read how other artists hear his tracks and can't believe he wrote them(Courtney Love and Chris Martin for what its worth) Also SCYHO apart, my favourite tracks of heathen chemistry are songbird and BOADC. Im not saying at this present time he's there but Noels getting older and maybe a little less bothered to keep churning em out and liam as noel said has gone mental on the songwriting front. 2-3 albums down the line i can see this being the case as liams songwriting and guitar playing get better. Obviously its all opinion and i'll probably get told bollox what you on about ya daft gimp, still let us know what you think? Cheers doggboy

I think Liam could become the head premier songwriter definitely. Noel said in an interview, if anybody would wirte another Definitely Maybe it'd be Liam. He also said that he'll be the best songwriter in England in five years time, in 2002. I think Noel wants him to be. I love his songs.

an acoustic set with just liam, on stage, in 5 years time, man that would kill me, how great would that be???
there are some bands where the lead singer occasionally picks up a guitar to help out, usually with his own song...

as liams songwriting and guitar playing get better. A liitle off topic but anyway, I think it was Andy who said Liam now plays guitar as well as anyway (or maybe it was Sardy who said it?), but do you think theres any chance he migfht play a bit on the upcoming tour?

first of all , liam did not write SCYHO. Noel introduced that song to the band the day of recording and blew their heads off. secondly, Liam's song's are what they are because of noel. sure, Liam writes the lyrics and guitar chords, but it's noel who adds everything else in if you know what i mean. but liam is without a doubt impressive. who the hell would have seen this coming 7 years ago. it is great to see it going so well. not to mention what Andy and Gem are doing. it's fantastic and i love it.
- cheers !

I think that this would be great, because then it would prove to a lot of people that he's not just a drunken oaf who isn't very smart, because a lot of people used to and still do say that about him.

Noel said in an interview around the time of Heathen Chemistry that he thinks singers playing guitar is a bad idea. I agree wholeheartedly.

He didnt say Liam wrote SCYHO It would be mega to see a Liam acoustic set in an Oasis gig... fucking blow yer mind ;D

Cheers doggboy i've always known liam would surpass noel's songwriting skills, even before i heard liams very first song. liam's mental state of mind and his way of thinking is enough to tell you that he'd make a great songwriter. obviously with practice he'll easily piss on noels efforts.

guess yer not too keen on people dissin' noels efforts by saying liam's gonna surpass him... you don't believe the truth it seems. I can kinda see where you're getting at, but you didn't really justify why you reckon Liam would make a better song writer. I like Noel's song writing cos he writes what he feels and thats what makes it so good, I agree Liam is getting better, but I don't think he comes close to Noel. I'd rather have the whole band contributing though, If the lyrics of turn up the sun are anything like Keep the dream alive, Andy is one hell of a songwriter

Anyone who calls Liam a stupid drunken Oaf should compare his IQ to theirs. His IQ of 164 is equitable to some of the most renowned minds of all time. It only makes sense that a genius would write genius songs, just has to get the bug, which according to the interviews he has.

That IQ thing is a rumor. I don't think Liam would score too highly on an IQ test personally as it measures how well you are able to do in school. You're not suppose to take IQ tests (not the bullshit ones online, real authentic ones) unless you are currently being educated. Liam doesn't have a lot of the neccesary skills in his mind.
Not that he's dumb. He's actually just quiet about alot of things it seems. Plus, I think he's felt inferior to Noel throughout the years with the press calling Noel a genius, Noel slaggin him off in the beginning (even though he and bonehead wrote take me which ROCKED), and Noel's natural people skills and wit.
IQ tests measure shit. There are many dimensions of intelligence, that that measures one that really doesn't decide who you are as a person. And it's not even accurate. Some people who are really smart get low scores.
