I know Noel has disowned Be Here Now, largely dismissed Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, and has often said he doesn't much like Morning Glory (aside from Wonderwall, DLBIA, Some Might Say, and Champagne Supernova).
Has he dismissed Heathen Chemistry or any of the hits off that album? You know, he often does that some time after an album is released. But I don't recall him ever slating Heathen Chemistry after its release.
Ironic for me at least, b/c I think it's their worst album (although I still think it's ok)

i remember hearnin him say before glasto '04 that because heathen chemistry was such a good album that their record company gave them more time to record the follow up. there was some magazine article where (they didnt actually quote noel) they said hc was bad because of his lack of inspiration. but i've never seen/heard him ever explicitly disown heathen chemistry. its a good album imo

Nah, Noel was happy with it. With Be Here Now he was fighting and he was all rich by the time he was writing it.
With Definitely Maybe he was just some kid outta Manchester with his brother writing tunes.
Morning Glory was where he became a rockstar... (although he thinks it's rated too highly)
Be Here Now to him was a low point. I think he felt like the songs were forced out of him-- He's said that he wished he kept some b-sides from the earlier days for it.
And SOSOG was great. It had an overall mood, but there really wasn't enough great tracks to have good singles and a good album, which is why you got tracks like Little James, PYMWYMI, and ICSAL. I question why he left off One Way Road and Let's all Make believe, but I guess the cheif wants to make the singles worth buying. Bonehead and Guigs leaving had something to do with this.
Heathen Chemistry for him was a calmer period. I think there are a number of reasons it wasn't as good or polished. The first was that two new guys were in the band-- they were working a different way. Oasis was different, and it WOULD show in the music, despite none of the guys that left being Gallagers. Bonehead and Gugisy just kinda chilled and recorded the parts, while Noel dd all the songs and Liam sang and argued with Noel about certain things. But now they were older and more mature about it. They had two new guys that were serious musicians who were talented and had experience writing songs-- Bonehead and Gugisy were just the guys that played guitar and bass, and mediocrely at that. They were adjusting. HC does have some great tunes. BOADC, SCYHO, Hindu Times, Songbird-- but it doesn't feel complete or have an overall mood to it or anything. It feels very unpolished. I blame it on the band needed time to adjust.
Now, the drummers gone, but he never did much-- Zak sounds great. Oasis have gone through lots of changes in the years. Noel and Liam are the only original guys since Definitely Maybe. But hey, I think we'll see it to be a good thing that Oasis has changed-- these new tunes sound great.

noel never really disowned WTS or BHN, he said that it annoys him that people bought WTS for the wrong reasons, and that BHN was over done too long and the sound of a cocaine addtiction - but does that make it bad, imo its a fckin top album
