The difference here is that in the past the above has been the case with albums, not singles. By all accounts the album this time round IS mega, that's what makes the confusion over Lyla even stranger. I just can't wait for the few weeks leading up to DBTT's release so people can start talking about that instead.

Nah mate this is where the cycle has ended this time. The music biz seems very enthusiastic about this album in ALL the stuff ive read so far!! EXACTLY. Even The Sun praised it. The Sun is a filthy gutter rag who jump from bandwagon to bandwagon. The very fact that even they praised DBTT is astounding. It's gonna be great ;D

ha ha, i understand your apprehension cos it does feel like that is the pattern.
i dont why he ALWAYS says its the best since DM. i mean he's setting himself up!! does he really think we'll like it more than MG?!
but i love noel's enthusiasm! i know other ppl are more cynical but i believe that he honestly means it.
and as ppl pointed out....there have been not just good, but excellent reviews so far.
keep the faith =)

When artists go about their new album being their best since or best they've ever done I get a little scared. Noel said the same thing around the HC release and it (HC) was imo up there with the other records but not better.
Look at the last record L Kravitz did, he said it was the best he'd ever done but when it came out I found it utter rubbish!
Though I don't expect this to happen with DBTT. It will be another Oasis album and i will like it.
You know, "Oasis is Oasis" and that's it.

There's no reliable source for #5. If anything, Noel has said that he and the band had wished that the single had been anything BUT Lyla, but the record execs wanted that.
