OASIS star NOEL GALLAGER has attacked rock contemporaries U2 and THE ROLLING STONES for ripping off fans who see them perform live.
The WONDERWALL band are about to embark on a summer (05) tour to promote their forthcoming album DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH - and are determined to keep ticket prices low, so ordinary fans can afford to see them perform.
But Gallagher is angry other bands charge up to $190 (GBP100) for tickets.
He says, "It saddens me when I see bands like the Stones and U2 charging so much. They don't need the f**king money."

The way U2 do it annoys me, like they wouldnt have got where they are without the pure generosity of their parents and the catholic church who funded there campiagn to London so they could be signed

That's true, man. With their tix prices, Bono oughta be able to cure AIDS and still have enough money to buy the Phillipines.
Noel is so cool.

Do they always have to call them "the wonderwall band" It really annoys me

Noel is a top man.. Bono should put himself in his place for that.. every time I see him doing some charity I laugh my guts out. He's just like every other one and couldn't care more about being millionnaire

U2's current tour is supposed to be really expensive for them to put on, becaue each date is really big and extravagent, so maybe that's why they are pricey.

People would go see U2 if all they had was acoustic guitars and sat on boxes.
So why don't they take the extra $100 million and donate it if they're so f-ing charitable.

Haha, i am glad Noel said that, publicly! And the tickets for the upcoming Oasis concert are very affordable, at least in the U.S.

Why do all the U2 haters jump on this. I like and respect U2, so does Noel. He's friends with Bono, I hardly think he's bashing them personally with this comment. I'd obviously rather pay 50 bucks than 150, but it's supply and demand. If U2 can sell out MSG 6 times charging that price all the power to them. I ended up having to pay $399 for Oasis at MSG, so I could have good floor seats. I payed $400 on Ebay for U2 GA's aswell. If people want to pay to see there favourite band, they are usually willing to pay the money.

the prices they charge are proof U2 and the 'Strolling Bones' are still in the game it for the money

If people want to pay to see there favourite band, they are usually willing to pay the money. That's not the point there mate.. if you want to buy from a scalper you will overpay it. I got the same msg floor seat tix for $50. Same as many people round here. The point is that when they come to my country where at least 75% are poor (which is quite ironic, coz Bono doesn't say a word bout it when he's actually here and not on his mansion) and they charge you $50, there's a difference. All the oasis gigs that I went to here cost me a bit round $30. Besides, the difference to charge $150 or $300 to gigs is that it's gonna make them trillionnaires instead of being just mortal millionnaires. And that's what Noel meant imo.

It's about time someone fucking said it. I had to pay $100 a pop for crappy balcony seats for the U2 show in Cleveland, and that wasn't even from a scalper!!!
Now if Noel would just do something about the touts -- like take their tickets away!! (promoters have the right to do that, especially if its in the fucking ticketing site's TOS... *nudge*)
