Why do Oasis now release their albums so soon after the release of the first single?
I think Morning Glory was released quite a while after Some Might Say and Roll With It and closer to the third single Wonderwall. There was a build up to the album and it wasn't all given to us in the space of a couple of weeks.
If they released DBTT after the 2nd/3rd single most fans would buy all the singles and the Album. More sales, more interest and therefore more airplay.
A lot of fans don't bother buying the singles after they have got the album. Therefore the single sales are hit, they get less airplay, it seems as though there is less interest in the band and the casual fans don't bother buying the albums.
Am I missing something?

yes singles arnt important any more, to get a number one hit youd probably only have to sell as many singles as you would to get the number 10 stop ten years ago.
no-one buys singles anymore hardly

Yeah but Oasis singles are different..... they are actually worth buying for the b-sides. And single sales help the Album sales don't they?

I have benn thinking about if it's a sales strategy from Noel's side to make good B-sides. I mean it can't hurt right? I just don't know of any band that makes b-sides like Oasis.
Post BHN are good too Let's all make belive, (You've got) the heart of a star, Gas panic demo (Jap single) My generation, Idler's dream.

gas panic (japanese version eh?) intriguing - but nto worth paying imported prices for methinks, oh well, guess I'll never know
as for the main point - yeah I see what the initial poster was saying - but on the other hand it could (in some people's minds) work the other way around - as in - you hear one song you like, but you don't like the next two singles, so you don't go and buy it later then anyway - whereas if it were out earlier you would, and the extra singles would just incite those who forgot about it -
as for two weeks prior to the album I think that's perfect timing - what I don't get is that lyla is going to start being played now - and the album doesn't come out for 2 months! that sounds like a really, really long time
