Why do people keep going on about this song, and all pissed off that it's not going to be on the album? Sure Noel said it was good (same man who said Little James was brilliant before SOTSOG got released - Noel says a lot of things you see) He said friends of his who didn't even like Wonderwall thought it was great People seem to think this means Stop The Clocks must be better than Wonderwall To me that means, friends of his who had a crap taste in music liked it..... Hmm! I remember years ago him going on about a song The Red The White And The Blue in the same way but we never got to hear it. It was probably crap.

That is actually very good counter-argument.
1. Noel thinks it's good 2. Noel's friends who don't like wonderwall thinks it's good Therefore, 3. IT's good
But you pointed out that 1 is a poor guid - in fact it might even be an inverse guide - ie - little james and some unheard of song and that 2 - means they have bad taste so why listent o them especially since taste is so subjective. These are excellent points. Not only was the original argument fairly tenuous but you have pointed out that the premiese are weakly or maybe even favourably unrelevant to the conclusion.
Regardless, it's been too hyped that regardless of waht it is I will be disappointed.
I just think that was an excellent argument that no one had brought up (that I'd seen)

What Noel says really doesn't matter. Noel says a lot. It could be fantastic, it could blow chunks.

It can never be as good as the hype's billed it to be.
If they released Live Forever under that much hype it wouldn't live up to it, hell, if Lennon released Imagine under as much hype as Stop the Clocks has released people would have been disappointed, I very much doubt it'll get released now.

I'm not trying to be an arse when I say this... but let's assume Stop the Clocks is: 1. The best song Noels ever written (Which makes it better than the Masterplan) 2. His friends like it better than Wonderwall (I personally like Gas Panic better than Wonderwall in fact 99% of Oasis' songs better than Wonderwall) 3. That DBTT is as good as Definitely maybe 4. That Lyla is the fifth best song on the album (And I love Lyla) That means that not putting Stop the Clocks on the album must make the album fucking mega... Either that or it just didn't fit ie(fade away on definitely maybe) the song could be the most glorified defining rock and roll moment in history, but if it doesn't flow with the album Noel wouldn't just throw it on anyway. If he can take an OK song like Let there be love and blow everyones head off that's heard it so far. Give him a new contract, a new album, and a little time to make it happen. Noel would not fuck us over by hyping this song so much not to do something with it. Cheers.

What Noel says really doesn't matter. Noel says a lot. It could be fantastic, it could blow chunks. exactly. there really isnt much point analysing what noel says cos he's seems liek a really sincere guy who believes waht he says....just that more often than not he's later proven to be talking shite but i love him anyway =)

anything more I'll say will be redundant. the guys spoiled everything. they're just waiting for a new label and new record. thus they'll make a new album (hopefully double album, as they intended with DBtT)...

I think we all should come down and forget about this songm we won't be seeing so soon anyway, so there will always be those tons of questions without ansewrs, so just focus on the new album, after all Noel said his favorite song was The Importance Of Being Idle, and barely mention Stop The Clocks...

I think it'll be a b-side. Here's why:
Noel at a Glastonbury 2004 Interview:
"It will probably never be performed live because it's just me with an acoustic guitar and lots of backwards stuff and its something to be listened to when one is very high"
It sounds very good, but something that probably isn't going to appeal mainstream. He probably felt that it didn't fit on the album. It sounds very b-sideish but also very good. With Oasis, b-sides don't have to be bad.

I believe among the reasons that STC is not on DBTT is:
- it would make 4 noel-singing songs on the album (aong Mucky Fingers, Part of The Queue, The important of being idle), which is a bit too much.
- There would be too many ballads/slow songs as well.
