I'm just wondering if Noel produced Lyla himself, rather than Dave Sardy.
It's a very pared down sound, with not much in the way of the sort of sound you would think a big name studio producer would put on it.
And Noel said it was one they re-visited later on, so I'm thinking that it could have been something he put together himself after they came back from working with Sardy in LA.
Just a thought...

Well, Noel said they used the demo he had recorded and just added Liam in on vocals. But it sounds like Sardy at least had a hand in the mixing stage, because when Noel mixes the mix ends up sounding very muddled with lots of guitars on top of one another. By the sounds of this, it's maybe two guitars, one in each channel. Which hasn't been Noel's style up until now.
Wanna good example of how Noel mixes things -- listen to "RolL With It" or the entire "Be Here Now" album. There's like a billion guitars going all at once.
That's my thought, anyway.

Normally I'm not a massive fan of Noel's "wall of sound" kind of production, but with Lyla I think, for once, they should have put more layers on it than there are.
